Got back home just before 11 pm last night...
Boy, what a
B U S Y weekend!
THURSDAY: Thanksgiving, food, family, wonderful time ...
FRIDAY: Went to a matinee performance of "Something Rotten" at the Ahmanson Theater in LA (OMG SOOO funny! link below)... Then dropped my cousin off at a Toyota dealer in Santa Monica to pick up their new Mirai hydrogen (fuel cell) powered car.
THEN... drove home, got in the truck and headed north towards Sacramento.
SATURDAY: Continued north after stopping for the night about half way up. Arrived at the apartment about 10 AM, met Steve's brother David and went to the storage unit. I was hoping (expecting) to find a couple vintage W/D combos and other vintage machines as Todd - NOLAwasher mentioned above, but alas... no.
David explained there
was a 2nd storage unit, but he recently helped Steve consolidate into one unit to save $$. He said there were 5 large appliances in the other unit, but there wasn't enough space in the single storage unit for everything, so 2 items went to a local friend and the other 3 went to a recycler. No specifics on what they were other than mention of an old stove. He also said they weren't in very good condition.
I did manage to load my truck FULL of stuff (in the cab too), but half of it is for other people. The oldest vintage machines there were a 1981 electronic Lady K pair in coppertone (grabbed for Gordon). There was also a 1990-ish White-Westinghouse FL pair (gas dryer!) in almond and if Todd (Nolawasher) hadn't mentioned multiple times he had dibs on them, they would have been in the back of my truck also!
Otherwise there was a WP DD washer (meh), a mid 80's Maytag 712 dryer (220V), Kenmore black-panel belt-drive washer, a newer (less than 10 years) WP side by side fridge in white, a 50's Nesco roaster on the stand, a Haier countertop dishwasher (grabbed for Thomas Ortega), a variety of furniture, an electronic organ (not sure what is was), misc dishware, books, Christmas decorations, never unwrapped Shirley Temple dolls, plus numerous boxes with who-knows-what. There was also a compact LG W-D combo in the apartment and a compact KM 110V dryer on top of it.
So... 13 hours driving & 850 miles later... The LG combo, the Nesco roaster, a paper shredder and a variety of Christmas decorations will be staying with us.
