Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

Below is a link to an old thread set up by forum member 'Crouzet951' containing lots of Hoover Australia brochures (shows the upload quality of the images you used to be able to achieve!) ...

The 3236H and 3022 were replaced after a few years by models specifically for the australian market - the 455 washer and the 155 dryer - still built in Wales and , marketed as the 'Little Big Wash' in Australia.

The link below takes you to John's (Crouzet951) restoration thread of his 455 washer and also shows his 155 dryer, the latter replacing model 3022A in Australia ...

The 455 and 155 were then replaced by 465 and 165 in 1979 - brochure sent to me by John.

The 465 was an Australian product, whilst I presume the dryer was still imported from Wales.

After that, the 465 was replaced by the first models branded 'Zodiac' and the dryers (I think) were Fisher & Paykel products branded Hoover 'Apollo' - from this point, the services of the UK Matchbox machines were dispensed with in Australia and the products were home grown, whilst the Zodiac and later Electra models were in production...

Hope the above helps with the background to your 3022A, Martin.

Thanks for posting the picture of your machine and welcome to the forum.

How did Hoover come by the design of their first dryer, model 3020? The English Electric 'copy'...

Did they buy it in?

Appreciate all the info and answers - you guys really are "Otaku" (A Japanese word meaning someone who is a driven specialist).....
Had another look at it today, whilst the drum rotates very smoothly, except for a slight shudder as it stops, unfortunately the heater doesn't work, nor does the air circulation...
Have tried to find Aussies that may be interested in it, to see if they can resurrect it. I don't have the space.
It is a very sturdy and heavy cabinet, and the enamel drum is perfect.
