Hoover Constellation in Stainless

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

From what I have learned so far, this new model should be out in the UK soon (forgot when though). But its apperantly a UK only model. And because Hoover UK is seperate from out Hoover, it has the Maytag name on it.

Its UK only...

I know it will be available only in the UK sometime next year, its the old Connie updated to todays HEPA standards and will still float.
It will have the Maytag name on it, and be called the Constellation.
I have an order in for one, price is about $350 or so...

I'm not into vacuums but when I saw and played with a Constellation, I was "sucked" in. Yes, vintage vacs ARE fun. They suck a whole lot better than new vacs and the classic noise you remember when your mom vacuumed the house.

Like I said, all this time my grandparents probably had theirs in the closet up until Katrina. And I bet it worked. For the life of me, I never knew it floated like that.

constellation

another company put out a machine called the airider. They sell them at Brookestone. They are really powerful and they float great.Has anybody else heard of them yet?

That's a neat looking constellation for sure! I've always liked canisters becasue they allow one to clean surfaces other than the floor. The drawback is that you have a machine following you around that bangs into furniture and corners. Canisters are also good because they are bag before fan. Sucking up solid objects won't damage the impeller because the dirt doesn't go through it.

I'd be interested. Though I'd probably go looking for an original first, seeing as $350 is probably enough to get one that's factory mint in any color you like, and I tend to prefer mid-20th-century pastels over stainless steel. OTOH (at risk of sounding heretical around here) a Roomba might be nice, if for no other reason than routine area cleaning every couple of days when I'm too busy to vacuum.

A deluge of Hoover with email & phone calls might be sufficient to make them think about bringing this into the US. On the other hand they may already have that in mind for later in 2006 or perhaps 2007. I've noticed that Panasonic tends to introduce certain things in the UK before the USA because the smaller market lets them experiment a bit; perhaps Hoover/Maytag is doing likewise.

New Connie!

Would love to have one too; just for the great look! I've not heard of the Airider, but will check the next Brookstone for it.

Jeff: How are you doing to deal with the difference in current on that British model?

what i want to know is, will the new constellation still use the classic "J" bags? sure looks like it from the outside.
