Gary, is that the origional floor tool for that cleaner - I thought that, by the time of teh jade green version (lovely example by the way, you and Ingemar are putting me to shame) they had gone over to the "flip-over" nozzle. Mind you, I much prefer the version you have

Clean is my Favorite Color

I remember my neighbors getting one in the late 50's.  I loved to turn it on and watch it glide across the old linoleum floors.  It does look clean inside which is an indicator the bag changing was regular.  I sense Hoover was a bigger player in canister vacuums in Great Britain than here in the US

Today I pull the hose connector off the end of the hose and it’s an impostor, about six yards of very tacky tap holding every thing together at both ends, I’m sure the original hoses can stretch to almost double length, this impostor is rigid and not an ounce of stretch in it.

Photo of my Maytag Satellite and like hoovermatic I’m finding it hard to find replacement bags for it.

that last link is the cheapest I have been able to find these bags online - thanks for the info.

Shame they don't make a cloth bag as I would get one of those! I can't speak highly enough of the Satellite as a vacuum cleaner - I love the turbo head as it really grooms my carpets and has one hell of a suck on it! Also, the soft brush is fantastic for wooden venetian blinds which I have a lot of.

Stripped down all the casing today. Removed the badges and rating plate by drilling out the rivets and also the rivets holding on the bottom flotation ring.

Then stripped down the motor.

Right is the turbine cover

Motor cleaned and bearings greased, I dare say the bearings will most likely fail now I have pulled it all apart, normaly do, they don’t like being messed with, only time will tell.

Armature winding also looks a bit dark compared with the field windings, not surprising though, it’s a hard life being a vacuum motor, running at maximum speed all the time.
