I finally bought a new outer bag for my decade 80. It's been so long since I took it apart I'm not sure if I put it back together correctly.

I know the outer bag is on correctly, I'm not sure if I put the full tube back on correctly. Here's a picture.

Great vacs btw...I think you have the tube on backwards.. the paper bag should be closest to the zipper,,easy on/ easy off.. not rassling to get it behind the tube then into the outer bag. I'm known to be wrong but that's the standard way. My Decade is the notorious dust spewing dust-cup model that doesn't use bags.

I switched it around, it made more sense to have it the other way. I'm not sure if I put the belt on correctly either, since it didn't have a belt to begin with. Thought I bought everything I needed for it today, but the headlight bulb is burnt out, so need to get a new bulb.

I'm more of a Kirby and Electrolux fan. But I do have a couple of Hoovers the Decade and an Convertible Model 27 I think, which was in my old house when I moved it and decided to keep it. It needs a new outer bag as well, because someone didn't take very good care of it, it has mold and mildew at the bottom of the bag where it attached to the vacuum.

PS: Petek, I sort of like your Decade better than mine, LOL.

Uh oh!

You mentioned them!! That means by law you MUST post pictures of your other machines! :)

Nice Decade 80! I had one once. The mint green one with chrome handle. What a great machine. SUPER quiet. Only problem was that the agitator in these are too heavy for the base and makes them rattle very loud. Put a CWP brush roll in it and it will out clean and be way quieter than an original decade 80. :)

My Oldest Hoover

Model 62

I would like to do a complete restore on this one sometime, but I don't really have a lot of knowledge to do a complete restore. I might break down and take it to a vac shop to be restored.

My Kirby's

Legend II and Tradition

These are my daily drivers. I vacuum just about every other day, so I alternate between the two.

those look good!

I especially like the hoover 62. One of my favorite hoover body styles!

The 62 was the TOL model of 1950-53. I have the model 63 and 29. Sometime I hope to find a 62 and 64 to complete the series.
Dont know how the grey citation model 64 fits in there. I think that was the last of the series.

The model 29 (the red one in the pic I posted above) is the middle model, which originally had a red DUMPOUT bag. And had only a Partial bumper. It sold for $87 at the time. The bottom of the line model was the 115 junior at the time.

The 62 would have the handle grip, tan base, and a HANDISAC paper bag insert which was open at both ends, the top end was clamped with a chip bag clip like device, and I believe a partial bumper too. bag indicated "handisac" at the bottom.

The 63 which replaced the 62, was the first hoover to introduce the type C BAG that was used for almost ever until the decades I believe. It has a full wrap bumper, and a shiny (rayon?) bag which was very fragile.

The 29 was replaced in 1953 as well with the hoover lark 12.

The 64 is I believe the same as a 63, just tan/grey/white

I have two more Electrolux vacs Olympia I and Model XXX, and a Airways 55, but they are in the basement, I get some pictures of those tomorrow, and my Royal Power Tank.
