Hi all,

I've noticed for a long time that on cottons 40 on my Hoover the door has always felt hotter than on most machines, and other 40 degrees programmes on the machine despite the machine having a double glazed door.

I'd never thought much of it until today when I went to do a load and after an hour, the water was still cold. I stopped it and reset the dial. It heated fine after that, but then I decided to open the door and see how hot the water was. It was steaming and I could barely hold my hand in it.

This only happens on cottons 40 and, I beleive it may also happen on "whites economy" which is meant to be 60 degrees but heats hotter than the regular cottons 60 programme, it feels almost as warm as the 85 degrees "whites" programme.

As I said before it has been like this for as long as I can remember. Any idea what's going on? Also, any idea why it didn't heat when I put it on earlier today?

Thanks

Matt

Maybe the thermostat is on the way out. Or it might be the electro-mechanical timer having bad contacts internally.
