That's a very immaculate Hoover Electron you've found there, looks very nice. So nice, it looks like brand new lol!

I'd have it myself if only I had the room in my house but I'm happy with my Miele.

Although we could spend ages over who should have it, but like I said, it's a good machine and I hope it goes to a nice home. Maybe yours lol!

That is a great looking washer! So cool that you have one.
I agree, someone needs to save it.
Was it reliable?

That was my mother's 2nd automatic which she got in 1986/7. I remember it being rather noisy, particularly when spinning but she liked it. Looks it very good nick for 20 + years old!!

My new toy!

Hi everyone

I decided to bid on this machine and fortunately won it! I didn't want to say anything until it was delivered so not to tempt fate.

I've been after a square door Hoover for sometime and this machine is lovely. It really is in mint condition. It was purchased 10/05/86 but might as well have been this year as it is like new, even inside.

The program is a little disappointing as it only spins on one rinse and goes into wool wash mode at the end of the cotton wash all through the rinsing, but I really am made up about it.

I will get some more pics and scans of the instruction book done tomorrow. I will video it but will not be able to get it on to youtube until I have the right equipment.

Rob - congratulations on the Hoover! Great machines, grew up with them so they're still part of my childhood :-).

Nothing beats the shift of speed from 800rpm to max speed on these Hoover's, especially as the machines go from vibrating to completely still as the machine speeds up!

Jon

Hey Rob.

Congratulations on winning such a superb machine. Hoover Electrons are fab! I did have that model once and got it off eBay like yourself. I thought the same with regards to your comments re the program and when it went up to 800, after 2 mins I kept waiting for it to go up 2 1100. Mine was in no way in such good condition as yours. Well done mate.

Mark

Great news Rob - congratulations.

Am very pleased that this overtly immaculate piece of 1980s laundry history has gone to a good home - its always great news when a preservationist acquires a 'bit of kit'. Just wish I could do the same!

Now - a question....

if an A3348 800 electron de luxe or an A3350 1100 electron came up for sale tomorrow, would you want notifying?
Are you aiming for a set or would it be painful teasing?

Enjoy your new purchase - can't wait for the updates.
All the best
Paul

Congrats rob!
I knew abit of time and patience would net you the model you wanted, after many a telephone conversation (and in person) between myself and rob, rob always wanted one of these, so finally glad you got one rob! It was the same for me and my logic. i waited it out and got a beaut!

Cant wait to see more pics/vids. Make sure you get a rinse pic!!!!

Darren

Thanks for your comments everyone, I consider myself very fortunate to have such a good machine and a nice bunch of blokes like yourselves.

Jon - you are absolutely right, the machine does shake a bit on 600 and then steadys at 800. Mind you I do need to balance it a bit. Unfortunately no adjustable feet on this one, just wheels.

Mark - Nice to see you back, will contribute to your other threads.

Paul - Thanks for your comments and the pic. Yes indeed another machine has been saved and I can't see myself getting rid of it! I might be interested in a 1100, but will have to see as I would next like a Zanussi like the one I posted about on your ebay thread.

Darren - cheers matey, like you said I would get there in the end.

I will try and get some pics tonight and post them.

Hi there Rob.

The machine looks fantastic.

The piccy of the machine with the back off brought back memories......memories of my dad cursing when any family members Hoover went bang. He hated having to completely unplumb them to get at the motor, which was conveniently! located underneath the drum.

He much preferred the Liberators and 'new gen' Hotpoints, the former with the removable outer casing (a bugger to get back on, so I am lead to believe) and both with the motors nicely placed on top of the drum.

Little does he know what delights await the first repair job on their new series Hotpoint W740F - I am lead to believe the motor is back below!

Back to the Electron - have you played with it yet?

One thing Rob - I noticed in piccy 3 that she/he/it is sat right up against the brickwork on the left of the machine. Might want to move it a bit to the right, or else you might end up with a lovely graze/dent in the bodywork. Unbalanced loads and all that!

The only Electron I ever got to play with was an A3344 (round door basic machine), the model just below your new purchase, so seeing some decent pics of a 'real' electron again is a real joy.

Cheers for posting them - does Youtube await?

All the best
Paul
p.s remember the bricks!

Hi there

Well as soon as the weekend comes I will be doing a proper load in it. I've played with it a bit but haven't had too much time apart from setting it up.

I know what you mean about the bricks, however, it's a bit of an illusion with the pic as they are further away than you think. Although, I want to be there when it does it's first full load spin. I will also film it in readiness to upload on youtube when I've worked out how to do it. Will only use this machine occasionally, want to keep it in it's mint condition.

Hoover.Who Better....

Nice one Rob, that looks just out of the sales floor, and good to see no leaks from the backseal!!!you can just here that wiry sounding motor....

I`ve got the 1100 model and thought it had gone wrong when it started to rinse, up, up & even more, was just ready to turn it off then remembered....Its a normal washer from the days of old....not like these dry clean machines of today!!!

have fun, Mike

I'm glad this Hoover has gone to a good home. But it could of been mine lol! Still, I like it, especially the high water levels it does and yes, judging by the pictures, it looks just like brand new. It's better than todays Candy based machines I can tell you!

Well I have now done a few loads in the machine. Boy did it bring back memories, although I have to say it does shake a lot. The older machines certainely weren't as stable as todays ones. Lots of fun though.

I have done a film of my collection and the Hoover and Hotpoint rinsing, spinning. Hopefully I can sort something out for youtube.

Re Hoover 1100

Thanks for that Paul. I'll have to think about it though. Typical they all come along together like a bus.

Immaculate Electron 800

Hello Rob,
Congratulations on finding such an immaculate machine, it looks like it just rolled off the Hoover assembly line.
The motor control module looks brown in the picture so I'm guessing it was made by Texas Instruments, they done a lot of electronics for Hoover and always proved very reliable.

I wish you many years of happy Hoover washing.

David
