Hi to all,

almost 20 years ago I received this old Hoover vacuum as a gift. I have a couple of others old Hoover vacuums, but I nearly forgotten to have also this one.

Now I will use it as my daily driver for small cleaning.

I guess this model is from the beginning of the 70's.

Can someone of you date this vacuum from its plate?

Thank you Launderess.

Well I guess this unit takes some kind of simple paper bags, but I'm using it with the fabric bag only.

That machine would take a paper bag, nothing fancy, just a plain paper bag that fits in and folds over the edge of the cloth bag that's currently installed.  I am sure I have some somewhere.  That's a beautiful machine and yours looks to be in remarkable condition!  I have a US version from early 60s, called a Lark.

Does the handle on yours come apart and turn into a wand?  The US version just had a solid metal handle.  Yours seems to be similar to the modern Miele electric brooms, with a handle that turns into a wand, so you can clean underneath things or above the floor more easily.  Oh, and in the picture, you can see the package of bags for the Lark.

Thanks for sharing!

Yes, Those Are The Bags!

Got a huge cache of them off fleaPay years ago. They don't really fit any of my vacuums but have been using them in two; the recently acquired/found Regina electric broom and vintage Eureka hand vac. Have to make a collar and staple it to the bags for the latter but one has to do something as originals are NLM.

Hi Fred :-)

Yes this one is indeed in very good conditions. The previous owner took care of it.

Your Lark is also very nice. I like the sky-blue collor.

Yes the handle can be unpluged and can be used as a extension hose to clean underneath things, as you said.

P.S. The vacuum on the right is a flor wet cleaner isn't it?

@ Launderess & Fred

... I just wonder if these paper bags actually reduce the suction power of these vacuums which are already quite weak in suction.

What do you think?

Nice machine

Have always loved the design of these, sadly I am yet to use one.

Were these sold in the former Yugoslavia or would this have been initially purchased in another Country?

Matt

Hi Matt,

this one was initially purchased in another Country, but it is possible that was on sale also in our former Country.

I have a Hoover model 427 that was on sale in the former Yugoslavia and it was indeed a very popular vacuum those years.

I have also a harvest gold Hoover Celebrity that was not only sold but also made in the former Yugoslavia. But I don't know exactly which local company made it under licence. Could it be "Iskra" but I'm not sure. I should take a look on the plate if by chance is indicated.
