Nice old ad from when Hoover were the leading washing machine maker in this part of the world.

The Hoover 1100
Fully computerised controls.

And endorsing New System PERSIL

1982? I think the year is wrong!

Didn't Hoover introduce the Computer Control 1100 in 1983? That's what my sources tell me lol!

Computer Controls....

This would be mine :)

By my reckoning the kid in awe of the one on the ad would be about the same age as me lol!!!!!

Ooops, posted this in the wrong thread about the other Hoove

That is a great looking washer! So cool that you have one.
I agree, someone needs to save it.
Was it reliable?

Seamus,
No advance pics yet im afraid:P i was contacted privately as to if i wanted it! the model she gave me appears to be 1983/4. Its a black panel chrome door trim model! I cant wait to fetch it. Im not lookin forward to carrying it up a flight of basement steps though:|

I will do pics/vids once i have it in my possession!!!

Hi Seamus /Darren and others

Not been on here for a while. What a great find that advert was. I love it.

Does anyone remember the Electron advert about the 1100 spin? It showed the back of the drum spinning really fast and went on about how dry it left your clothes.

Great news on the new machine Darren, you'll have to tell me all about it.

So Cool Darren! I cant wait to see it!

Rob, I did add you to my MSN list (hope you dont mind)

I remember you saying a while ago you were having troubles with videos?.. I have software that i can use to convert the files if you'd like.

Good luck with that basement jobby Darren!

Re MSN

Hi Daniel

Unfortunately, my MSN went funny on me ages ago so I haven't used it since.

Feel free to email me at Hotmail though. The same goes for anyone else.

Here is the A3308 image from one of the 1983 manuals.

Have to say, I have always thought that the blasck A3268 was the smarter of the two. But, with the 1980s being the era of the stark white kitchen, Hoover had to have an all white machine to match - bad enough keeping a white floor clean, let alone a kitchen full of white units + all the 'white goods'.

Cheers
Paul
p.s sorry about the join.

I had the A3308 and it was a superb machine, got rid of it in 98 due to bearing failure and it got replaced with a Soft Wave. Sad loss really as it was one of the better machines I've had.

Looking at the programmes on the control panel, it appears to have had the lot - including the "Special Whites" programme 9 (@95 degrees?). I have never seen that programme on any other machine.

I always liked the clean, solid lines of the Hoovers. The modern machines look too 'Candy-ish'.

No. 9 is the programme for items that can be washed at 90°-100°C but have special finish (no-iron) and need drip-drying and anti-creasing treatment!
