Hi Paul

Firstly fabulous thread and I appreciate the time and effort you are putting into it.

Secondly you have cleared up a mystery for me. I now know the first second hand dryer I purchased when I got my flat in 1996 was a D6074. I have never known the model number so great to find out the info.

Its demise was due to the motor keep cutting out. I would have to let it sit and it would start again but eventually it wouldn't start at all. I new nothing about dryers then so it got replaced.

Thanks for the info.

Hi Mark.

Glad that you are enjoying the thread and that it has proved useful to you, in being able to identify your first dryer.
Thats a definite aim of this thread - to help people get an idea of what was made, when it was made and help in identifying machines generally.

Hoover and its dryers....

...from this point onwards got a bit confusing.

The Electron range dryers, to the end of the Electron series, tended to be warmed over dryers from the previous ranges.

The first series of dryers, to match the Electron washers, were not branded Electron at all.

The basic dryer was model D6142 Dryer de luxe...
