Hoover UK Washers & Dryers - 1st Keymatic to Final Electron

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

My nanna had the A3058 Electronic deluxe 800. I can remember the dark blue speckled inner enameled drum & the black door seal. They was no 500rpm slow spin. The spin speed was fixed at 800rpm through out the programme. Can't remember if it spinned on the rinse cycles if the synthetics, delicates half spin swirl button was pressed in. I think it just did a short final spin burst at 800rpm then it did the slow anti-crease tumbles. I could possibly have the model number wrong because i dont think it had a fabric conditioner section.

Thats all for tonight - will deal with the new machines for

Paul, do you mean next weeks you will do Ecologic newwave etc?

Because I would like to learn about our Round door Ecologic 800

good thread!

hey, good thread thanks for sharing it with us,
both sets of my grandparents had hoovers from the 80's, and coincidentally, both replaced them with WMA hotpoints at around the same time!

my dads mum&dad had a late 80's (i think 1987) hoover electron 1100 in black and white, never really used high water levels which i am now shocked at knowing that most hoovers from that time did,
and then my mum's mum&dad had one which i cant quite emember, i think this one was an early 90's one though, i have a feeling it was a beige/creamy colour, and that was always on with extremely high water levels lol, and coz its my nana, and she uses alot of daz in 1 go it was usually packed 3/4 up the door with suds haha. this machine died of bad bearrings :( suprise suprise lol.
she also had the matching dryer, coming to think of it i think they were logic's or something and that didnt die she gave that to my auntie so she could get another matching pair (died this year, think it was the belt but they didnt know that and they thought something was badly wrong coz the drum jolted, if only i was there :(:()
so, in 2001 my nana bought a WMA10 (shit but fun to watch spin) it never spun balanced and i wouldnt dare go in the room when it was spinning the dog bed! this has now been replaced as it died of bad bearrings in 2009 (8 yrs old) Replaced with WML540 :@.

back to my dads parents, in 2004 their hoover electron 1100 broke at 17 years of age and that was due to failed door interlock (yes, i know it could have been fixed, they didnt know any better) replaced with a WMA64.... which i LOVED! it had a ffwd button so you could skip the wash when u thougt it had enough and a powerstream system that usually made the wash sudsy, loved it, and i loved the beep of the buttons haha. this was still running healthy at 7 years of age when they moved to where they are now with aeg's and boschs, but unfortunately the foolish new owner got rid of the WMA and left it outside to rott (RIP), and alongside it my grandparents indesit omega dishwasher :'( ahh well its their choice lol.

thanks for listening to me go on and on and on,
from george :)

hang on, it cant have been 7 years old it was 2007 when they moved out:S
it was 5 years old in hotpoints famous sandstone

Hi Craig.

Methinks that your mother had the A3006 Automatic De Luxe, rather than the A3058 Electronic deluxe.
When the A3058 was introduced, Hoover gave it a stainless steel tub rather than the enamel tub.

Both models were 800rpm only with, as you say, the option being short spin rather than slow spin.
Might be wrong but was generally 4mins at 800rpm for long and 20seconds at 800rpm for short.

Mike has an A3006, but it is awaiting a suitable motor before being powered up again. One day....

Hi Jacob.

will save the Logics and Ecologics for another time. Although being a lot more recent, than the machines being covered in this thread, info about the exclusives is really scare and unfortunately there were lots of exclusives.

A bit more research to do, but will make a thread about them one day I am sure.

Hi George.

Electrons to be covered in a day or so! Your grandparents machine should feature very soon.

Onwards we go....

New Year 1980 sees a major change in Hoover styling, with the abandonment of the proud door bodystyle.

The 'SMOOTHER Hoovers' arrived on the scene!

Lowest numbered of the new series was the A1094 Topline - a Brandt machine, made in France...

matchboxpaul++8-9-2011-16-28-25.jpg

As was the case with the A3064...

so the A3114 Selectamatic 1100, was the ignored, seldom mentioned and seemingly hardly ever advertised top of the range machine...

matchboxpaul++8-9-2011-16-32-2.jpg

Higher model still...

but bottom of the pile, was the budget A3166 Automatic 610 - the first round door Hoover machine...

Mystery machine...A3170 Automatic 800

as was the case with the A2020, A2044 and both Selectamatics, the Hoover A3170 Automatic 800 was an ignored model.

Probably introduced just before the start of the Electron branded machines, as the second budget round door machine, it was likely to have not been in production for all that long.
As such, apart from a single sided A4 servicing leaflet, information on this machine is hard to come buy and I have never seen a photo of it.

Anyone?
