Small number of owners?

James
I would certainly say that you are one of a small number of owners - I must say I did not even realise that Hoover manufactured this more basic model as late as 1986 (I am getting this date from the serial no, apologies if incorrect) - there still seem to be a fair number of the de-luxe version around, so this one is definatly a keeper for its rarity alone

Evening Al...

Yes the machine is from May 1986. I will be holding on to it no doubt about it. It is a lovely machine and the bonus of being able to trick the interlock and spray rinse is nice and time saving. I usually do a manual rinse, a spray rinse for a couple of minutes and a final rinse with conditioner. Does the trick and I'm sure no damage is done. I do have two small issues to fix on Friday, the wash sump hose is leaking a tiny bit (I think it's the wash sump hose as it's in that area where the bend is), I don't know whether to live with it (it is only a slow leak and it would only leak enough to cover the bottom of a cup IMO) or fit my spare hose that could saved for a machine that needs it more? The second small issue is the belt needs tensioning, it slips a little for a few seconds upon start up. Some say its a good thing to slacken the belt so that there is less strain but I don't know what to do and how to do it.

Hi James.

Model T5052 is a rare one, as are most of the standard Hoovermatics.

I know of one other definitely in safe hands and there is possibly another that I know of.
You got yourself a rare-un James!

Tend and nurture the old girl.

Paul...

Hi and a very nice picture that is too! Is that from the brochure? I printed off your T5054 manual too. Paul should I use that spare sump hose then? I think the shope have more anyway. The spinner sump hose is fine and supple I think the wash tub sump hose is just perished a little bit. Certainly if somebody had a spinner sump on offer I'd replace both hoses. The pump is great luckily.

Nice machine James. I quite like the Hoovermatic basics. And I agree, the auto rinse flume on these later models aren't as good as the older swivel arm models. Always wondered why the basic models are of a different colourway to the deluxe models. Anyone have a use book of the T5090? Never read one!

NO MORE LEAK!!!

Evening all,

Fixed the leak today, turns out there was a small crack in the spinner sump hose, luckily under the clip. So I chopped that bit off as there was enough length to refit the hose again and surprise surprise, no little patch under the machine.

That's machine No. 3 complete!

I'll take a few pictures tomorrow once she's polished up and tensioned, maybe a short video too.

A delighted James.
