comfy temp in the house 21*C or 22 (in winter)
25*C in summer.
37*C is body temp
40*C is a fever (104*F)
50*C (49) is 120*F
60*C ........is 140*F
70*C (71) is 160*F
80*C (82) is 180*F

If nothing else, all kidding aside, this site has taught me the metric system.

F and C

Hey Steve,

I find if I use farenheit it gives it a little extra relevance for the US members. I've found a great little converter that helps me come up with the Numbers. :) Otherwise no, I dont tend to use F at all. Most australians under 25 struggle to even know what it is.

We've been Metric since 74 I think. My choice magazines from back then talk about all the issues with with metrication, and what the govt was doing about it. There was a period in the mid 70's where stoves had to have dual temp labels, but that didnt last long, and through the late 70's and early 80's, most just had a texual convertor on the control panel.

When you talk about Cabinet increments, do you mean width, depth or height? Kitchen appliances here are usually designed to fit into a 60cm x 60cm hole. IE Ovens, Rangehoods, Microwaves, Dishwashers, Cooktops, Washers. Other than that when I look at our kitchen, there isnt too much that is symetrical. I'll try and measure over the weekend and see if there is any rhyme or reason to how the cupboards are spaced.

One possible answer to this question may be a linkie to a cabinet seller / retailer in your area. Or I may want to check out IKEA myself.. (HINT, HINT).......

Steve,

Kitchen cabinets overhere come in 5 cm increments. And then there are special cabinets in 1cm increments to fill up the space. The standard width is 60cm, which is the reason most kitchen appliances are 60cm wide. Switzerland was the exception, their standard was 55cm. They had 55cm wide dishwashers and stoves. Because they are taking over the European standard width at the moment they both have appliances in 55cm and 60cm. Dishwashers also come in 45cm wide.

Oh, I understand that if we do colonize other planets, the protocol WILL be metric time (10 hours, 10 days, the decaday, etc.)
