Thought I'd share a few photos of one of my recent acquisitions - a Microprofile in Almond. It's a great machine in really good condition and I'm really pleased with it. Here are a few pictures

Any idea of the date - I'm not sure how the code works on on these models? I'm guessing 1991 as there is a sticker with 91 on the inside of the lid

The only problem with the liquid dispenser is my mains pressure hot water is too much for it and it dribbles from the front

I found this clip in the bottom of the machine but no idea what it is off. If anyone has any service info they would be willing to share that would be great. All info I have is for other 95 series machines but not the Microprofile

I love the way it goes into its spin cycles although it seems poor at pumping out water while it is spinning. Just a shame the 1400 is only for a short time. It needs a new door boot as it sometimes lets water out from the door and I'm not sure if the pump is getting ready to fail.

Hope you enjoy

That clip is off the water level

pressure switch there should be two prongs on the bracket that go through a hole on the side of the cabinet near the front right corner and the clip slides through the prongs to hold the switch in place.

Thanks chaps. I'll take a look and make sure it is in place. Hopefully someone dropped it when they were doing a repair. I have noticed that when the machine is doing the fast spins - 1000 + it makes a clicking sound almost like a relay making and breaking. Would this be the pecker mechanism?

Microprofile

A superb "Microprofile" you have got yourself steve, has this model got a out of balance switch that is possibly maybe making the clicking sounds.

Hotpoints sometimes came with a selection of spares rattling about in the bottom. If the assembly workers dropped anything small they just left it in there.

you're right about it being from 1991 as it's the 1st Aquarius version of it, and it's a jolly nice nice Hottie too. The serial number is inside the door so if u can supply it I can work out the date code so I can determine when it was made. :)

MicroProfile

Another classic find Steve, lovely condition, does the spin speed indicator still rise up and down with the profile spin?

Interesting how the outer tub is the similar colour of the accents, which stem from the first Hotpoint top loaders accents!!

Check that pump housing, has a trap like the Servis which often gets clogged with lint and fibres etc.

Thanks guys for the comments - it was a great find and in pretty good nick for its age.

I took the lid off again for a quick look but will need to take the back off for a proper look at the pecker assembly. What I did notice as that as well as the Bowden cable, there is a hose attached to the door lock presumably to stop you opening the door when it's full of water - seems a bit over engineered! Hopefully the clip is a left over production mishap.

I had checked the filter and it had a few obligatory buttons and shirt collar inserts but not enough to restrict flow. Having used the machine a few times over the weekend I'm guessing it is just the way it is. You get a kind of staggered noise when it first starts which I'm sure I've heard on other machines and the it's fine. When it spins the flow only dribbles out even though you see it streaming down the door but as soon as the drum slows then it pumps out normally. It just seems a bit odd that the designers didn't make the spins a bit shorter to let the water pump out in between the 3 spins during each rinse. I will check the pump though in case there is anything stuck on the impeller.

I'm not sure if this has out of balance sensing. It might have on the final spin as it does seem to take some time distributing and doesn't always do the full 1400 super spin but there is no mention of this in the user book.

Alan - I've checked round the door but there is no serial number and no sign of one so it might of dropped off. I thought it was the number on the top of the rating plate.

Mike - I love the colour of the tub. Yes it has the graphic equaliser spin indicator. Here's another pic but it is hard getting the camera to focus on this due to its brightness so it's a bit blurred.

Pump output

The dribble/full flow pattern you've seen during interim spins sounds very normal for a Hotpoint such as this. I'm sure mine, albeit a different model, is much the same - the bulk of the water is pumped out after the drum coasts down from spin. My guess is the rather narrow tub-drum gap causes the extracted water to whirl around the tub during spin rather than sit in the sump, hence the dramatic cascade down the door you get, particularly on full or absorbent loads.

I do wonder why they employed the different drum lip and door seal for the 1200 and 1400 spin models around this time - a cosmetic or practical reason? It means you can't see the edge of the tub, unlike the slower spinning models. The different drum was dropped after a few years.

A lovely example of the top-of-the-range offering from Hotpoint whichever way you look at it...what with that and the almond timeline top loader, your kitchen seems to be the place to be on washday!

This is such a lovely machine! The only thing that beats it is the WM41 with it's icy blue vacuum display. I would check the pump and I'm pretty sure that brass thing is nothing vital. I dont think this model has OOB control, it was introduced on the WM41 as far as I am aware of. It is obvious too that the door release button has been replaced at some stage. It is glossy indicating that it is a WM4x door release button.

I hope you get a chance to upload some videos of it, I am eager to hear the difference between the AEG motor and the GEC original.

James.

If you could take a photo with the back off I would be interested. When I first looked at the photos I thought I was looking at a washer dryer but that would make it a 99 series, not a 95. I did work on a few of these 1400 spin machines but I don't remember them having a different cabinet.

More pics

I think you are right Al. I have taken a picture of the drum and you cannot see the outer tub at all. I've just accepted a new offer on the house so hopefully in the next one I'll be able to set the machines up together. The two hotpoints are definitely my favourites. Craig - just keep your eyes peeled - I'm sure there is one out there with your name on it.

James you have such eagle eyes. I hadn't noticed but you are right it is a different button as it doesn't have the edge detail either of the other two. The machine appears to be newer than I first thought as the date on the drum is 12-92. I must get round to doing some videos - I have some of the other machines but have not yet got round to setting up a you tube account. Just not enough hours in the days!

Hi Phil. Here are some more pictures from the back
