Paint Job

That is certainly good enough!........matching old white with new is impossible, unless you are in the trade and have the time and equipment

Well done

Now just to put it back together.

Will have to lower the water level to just below the door as the safety lock still has not arrived, Fitted new door seal and I have sorted out the bang as well hopefully. Sunday will take her for a spin.

Paint Job

Mounting excitement i would say.........getting so close....... argh that click from the water pressure switch and then the whirring from the timer motor and pings and clicks from the timer and then........the motor kicks into life and the drum turns............and then check to see if the water is warming up...............he he.....I love it :_)

Economy Switch

Dose anyone know what the economy switch dose

Bypass the heater and wash in the tap water temperature
or
Wash 90C at 60C

Economy switch

It normally as you say reduces the temperature 90-60, 60-40 etc..

though i could be wrong on Hotpoints Paul or Mike could confirm this

A job well done Lee.

as Gary mentions, matching the paint would have been difficult.

Rust repair was the aim and you have succeeded in that, by the looks of it.

The door will hide that lip of white paint anyway - the preservation of the machine is the aim.

Re the Economy stuff - taken from Hotpoints Product Information brochure for the 18580/18680:

'11.Sales feature ........... E button allows programmes 1,
2 or 3 to wash at the temperature of the incoming
hot water (or 40 degrees whichever is the higher)

Customer benefit.........saves electricity and time on very hot washes'

than later in the brochure:

ECONOMY BUTTON (Programmes 1, 2 or 3)
When button is depressed, allows the timer to index on instead of pausing for heating up period if hot water is abover 40*c. Press the button again to release.

Hope that explains it.
Keep up the good work Lee - wonderful that such a great condition 18680 is in safe hands.
what luck you had stumbling across that one!

cheers
paul
