Hotpoint 9524 (UPDATE PLEASE HELP)

Hi again.

I'm allowed to keep the Hotpoint and restore it for myself!
I really need to know where I can get the following parts for CHEAP!

Motor (The old GDA if possible)
Bearings
Sidestrips
Something to Clean patches of rust off the front?
Door and Bowl (Although old one still on machine it is chipped)
FASCIA! I can not find one anywhere!

Your help would be much appreciated!

the machine is basically the same as my 9534, same colour but with 800 not 1000rpm, hope it helps

All I basically need is a new fascia, Motor and someting to clean the rust, THATS IT!!!!

You may have to be patient to find a fascia, unless there is someone specifically parting a machine out. There's not such a good supply of them as there is motors etc.

Also, you've started several threads about this and left them blank.

Sorry I didnt realise I was doing this.

I emailed a man that restores 95's and asked see if he has the fascia. And If I can possibly buy one off him.

I think it might be a case of just waiting until parts become available from someone on eBay or someone stripping one down. You won't be able to buy obsolete parts anywhere new

You're unlikely to find many of these parts new, especially not trim. Some other collectors may have spares, but have probably put a lot of work in finding them (stripping down and shifting spares machines or phoning round all the local repair shops), so you can't blame them for wanting to hold onto them.

 

From the list of parts you need, it'd probably be better to take any good bits off the machine you have and scrap it - these Hotpoints are still fairly common, and if you keep an eye out, you could probably find a better example of a similar model within a few months. With collecting, patience is the key!

 

Aluminium oxide paper removes rust well, use a medium grit followed by a fine one such as 1200 grit to get it smooth for paint.

They had the same innards basically for 20 years, so there are bound to be here somewhere!
