Replacing Bosch with Hotpoint

Well done on bagging this washer! I too had one of those God-awful Bosch machines in the last house - truly rubbish POS! I have the Aqualtis Dryer and think it generally very good for a modern condensor. There are a few design niggles, but I'm pleasantly surprised by it! I rather fancy an Aqualtis washer to match it when we move to Ireland, but to be honest, I'm still more likely to use the top loaders.

Question about padded bras - I wonder if the previous owner have a member of the household who noticed the padding going missing from their 'foundation garments'? If three pads were found, is there someone out there in Cornwall with uneven cleavage?

So am I correct in saying all you had to do was write to Argos with the nature of your complaint and they supplied you with a fully integrated Bosch washer? wow, I have never heard of a company doing this for vibration issues.

Comet

Comet are the worst offender in consumer care. When my Bosch broke down after 6 months of use. Comet did not want to help.

Sadly, when you buy a bosch washing machine from Comet, then comet engineers will come out to repair it and not Bosch engineers.

Bosch told me that comet buy their machines at a reduced rate from bosch, but in return, comet engineers do all service work.

In total I was 2 weeks without a washing machine. Comet told me that 2 weeks is quite normal to wait for a repair.

I did engage the Which Magazine legal team and gave me sound advice.

Yes, I did write to Argos, and detailed that the machine was damaging my kitchen, and it wasnt fit for purpose (i.e. no mention in any of hotpoints or argos's literature that the machine should be placed on a concrete floor etc)

sent pictures of the damage - and they called me within 5 days and did indeed make that offer

In Shock

A good friend of mine has just bought a house with contents. The people he bought the house off have emigrated to New Zealand.

He phoned me last night to say he is having a new kitchen with all built in appliances,and would I like the washer thats in the house at present. I of course said YES PLEASE.

Last night he delivered the washer, and I am now in shock. Will take some photos and put them on this thread.

Suspended Floors

There will always be issues with automatic machines not placed on concrete floors as the forces generated when the machine is winding up and down for the spin are terriffic. I know this even as far back as my Philips 082 way back in 1983 when I moved into a top floor flat in an old house.

The only answer is to place it on a thick board to help spread the load, unless you fill the void with concerete as Paul suggests. My Miele 1400 has happily resised in my 1st floor bathroom for the last 6 years with no problems although you certainly do know when it goes into the spin. It sits on and offcut of 40mm worktop. The bathroom is above the kitchen which I do not want to fill with concrete. I believe Seamus has a similar arrangement to mine.

Paul, some people get ALL the luck, that Miele washer is simply FAB!

Still in shock yet, lol. The model no is W1730 Home Care. It,s got the honeycomb care drum, 1400rpm.

I tried the machine today, and it great. Used the water plus button, and it had nice deep rinses.

I have no idea how old this machine is, as its not on the Miele website.

Its a great machine, strong constuction and made in Germany, unlike my Bosch Maxx 5.

Only done 1 load in the machine. Its great, and love the deep rinses when water plus is switched on.

Today I have done 3 loads in my Miele. The machine is great. Just found out I can alter some of the settings.

I have set the machine so it cools down the wash water on every cycle.

Its nice and quiet, and the spin is so smooth.

What does the Homecare cycle do? I don't have that on my machine. I have seperat dark garments and denim cycles though.

Homecare Cycle

Hi Paul.

The Homecare cycle is Intensive Plus. The water temperature is from cold - 95c. It starts with an automatic pre wash, then goes into a long main wash. The programme duration is 2hours and 46 mins, uses 69 litres of water, and has intensive rhythm.

What I like about my machine is you are able to set high water level on all programmes and an extra rinse. The rinse cycle is great, uses a lot of water.
