Just taken delivery of a Hotpoint aqualtis washing machine... was reluctant to buy the shi*e that Hotpoint have been kicking out but thought it looked too smart to miss!!! Very impressed with it - Hotpoint’s claim that it is super silent is correct - even when spinning!
Holds 7.5 Kg load, loads of cycles, including Duvets, Bed and Bath, Wool, Silk, etc.
Very impressed so far… may possibly begin to sway my opinion of this brand!!

Nice picture!

Interesting to hear that it's silent on spinning - the Super Silent Ultima's received complaints because they were super silent on wash but still loud on the spin, so nice to see Hotpoint/Ariston have addressed the issue. Any possibilities of videos? :-).

What made you go for the base model, and not the ones with the 3 LCDs? My nana has a WF series Aquarius, and it takes about 20 minutes for the final spin cycle - what is it like on yours?

Jon

Yes Jon

My Super silent ultima was exactly as you described - super silent wash but regular spin sound. How so? Same motor running.....I don't reallyunderstand how you can make a brush motor silent anyway......

Hi Chris

Nice machine! I really like the aqualtis range but for me the super silent motor is no good. I like a noisy motor! I like to hear it working...washing...distribute..and I love to hear the spin!!!!
I love the old Hotpoint and Hoover and Servis motors for their great sound.
The aqualtis range are really nice designs and would be perfect if they had an old style noisy motor.
You will have to do some vids if its possible.

Nick I always wanted a Hotpoint Ultima 1600 spin. I just love all the lights and leds and display. The faster the spin the better aswell although I only tend to use the fastest spin for towels. I love to be able to see a machine lit up with all sorts of lights etc when the lights are off.

Hey... I chose the base model because the 1400 & 1600 spin model price was brushing towards entry level Miele models... i couldnt bear to spend that money on a hotpoint machine!
I can genuinley say that it is silent when spinning - the only noise comes from the pump (a real shame as this is obviously very very cheap) and perhaps the suspension moving about. The fast spin takes about 20 minutes, and it is genuinley spinning for about 16 of those - the others are distributing. The 800 spin does it in about 12 minutes.

I have noticed that the water levels on the cotton cycles are high - i.e. above the door, which is odd on a modern machine. It also only rinses twice on these cycles, but does so quite well - the intermitent spinning sequence appears to be in the region of the 1000 area

It is a little Zanussi compact machine next to it - this is a great little workhorse, the only issue i have is that the drying cycle is poor

I will do my best to get some videos sorted... as i am new to this is it through a web cam, or a video cam???

i guess i agree about the noises of older machines tho... especially the hoover electron type noises.... distributing full of water, then onto 500 rpm, then 800 rpm, then the motor slows slightly and it ramps up to 1100.....!!

always wondered why they used to slow slightly before getting to the top speed!!

You Can Use Webcam or Video Cam to make videos, if using a webcam I like to use "windows movie maker" and it records directly to there ready for editing and or saving,

Hope this helps!!

P.S: Can we have a link to your album please?

Hi all

I am curious what a bed and bath cycle is ? How is it different to a regular 60 c wash. I have read that it does sheets in under 2 hours, but my aquarius 1500 does a good job of sheets in 40 mins with high water levels half way up the door.

Is it not just a useless programme ?

Neil

Hi - nice that the spin cycle is a lot of spinning too! My nana's 6 kilo Aquarius again just seems to mess about bursting and does a 5 minute tumbling phase halfway through, all for the sake of a 3 minute 1400rpm spin at the end.

I'm still skeptical on these Aqualtis because (as many people on here know) I'm not exactly the biggest fan of the Indesit company, and what they have done to Hotpoint as a brand, but if they are actually making decent products again then that's a turn up for the books (and about time too IMO).

I'm still ever so tempted to buy a Hotpoint WF541... the Aquarius 1400 with 3 dials, just to try one out...

Neil - on what programme does your Hotpoint Aquarius fill halfway up the door? My nana's doesn't have a visible water level at all except on the acrylics rinses :-(. Though a fellow club member has told me that apparently if you press wash enhance you get deeper rinses!

Jon

Quick wash and some cottons , every rinse is half way and there is a rather funky spin wool wash..

I love it !!

Sadly the matching dryer died after the 9th reapir in 8 months :(

Ah cool! I will have to try that in my nana's WF340 - not been impressed with it so far personally but I've only seen it on the cottons 60, 40 and acrylics 40 cycles. Have to say I am spoilt with a Miele so sometimes makes it more difficult for me to see good in other washers, lol.

So if I'm right in understanding what you're saying, does the woolwash distribute all the time, like the Cashmere system on Aristons? Wouldn't surprise me if Hotpoint have adopted this seeming as they are more or less Ariston now.

Jon

Jon

My Hotpoint from a few years ago distributed all the time on a woolens wash and I thought it most bizarre and not at all a gentle way to treat wool, but anyway yes I would guess the Hotpoint wool wash has been this way for a few years now

Handwash

Ah right - well I have to say it would be better than the other stupid handwashes we see on washing machines today. Big thick woollen jumpers hardly get soaked never mind washed thoroughly on the handwash cycles on both the Miele and AEG - find myself using delicates most of the time instead with a deep level and a good but gentle level of agitation. Though ideally I'd love the wool wash from 95 series Hotpoints back - high levels, gentle but thorough tumbling, and 4 good rinses with interim spins and a nice long spin at the end. The only thing I like on the Miele handwash is the 1200 spin at the end... a change from other manufacturers which just do a short slow spin at the end of wool cycles.

Nick - I'm online by the way, if you fancy a chat on good ol' MSN.
