Not sure of her age, but 1986 is a good guess. Anyone know for sure?

After a new belt and use for a year (+/-) on 110v she has been a faithful servant.

Lately, however, she is starting to vibrate quite a bit.

So is it the felt seals on which the front of the drum rides?
Bearings (where would they be?)
Bent motor shaft?
Failing motor?
Broken /bent/damaged/imbalanced/clogged blower wheel?

HELP!

Money is tigher than a clam's @$$. But if I had to get a new one, I MAY consider one that mathhes my washer. Yoo-hoo Eugene? How about a review of your frigidaire dryer?

I did like my GE with a SS drum that I left behind in the house that I sold.

Thoughts? Opinions? Options?

I have just recently taken apart my own dryer which is a 40 year old GE. it is the same as your unit in construction and I bet its the Bearings in the back of the drum. its a small plastic piece that slips over the drum shaft. My problem now is that when I tried to assemble my gas dryer back I forgot how the wiring went .. so good luck with yours .. The parts can be found at repair clinic and I believe they are about 7.00

Hi Steve,

Does the dryer squeak when tumbling? Could be the drum bearing sleeve as mentioned above. Also there are 2 drum glides that the front of the drum "rides" on. Also check the blower wheel....could be a build up of lint. GE motors do run rough and get noisy as they get older.

No squeek currently. There was a little bit of a squeek a few weeks ago.

Thanks for the input!

If you were closer I'd cook you a fabulous dinner and hand you a big fat check for your time in making the issue go away. But I guess I have to take the plunge and learn.

My actions will either fix it, destroy it, or maintain the status quo.

:-)
