What do the old ones look like?

There aren't any. The first one was the one in the first picture above.

first editions

when htpoint released their first first edition, where they meant to be the basic kind of model from that series of the ultimate version, if you know what i mean, it has baffeled me for a while now, and it woild be interesting to know, thaks alot, servisslimline (phil)

There seems to be at least 4 of the second generation First Editions on Ebay at the minute. They certainly look to be lasting well. And all the examples look really clean condition too, they must be well loved.

I can never really decide on my opinion of Hotpoint

I never thought much of our WM52, extremely rattly and cheap sounding on spin. The wash and rinse results were pretty average, even for the CCC rating they got. I think the older machines were better, but the wash was just too short and the tumbling during heat was pathetic.

I think by modern standards they are quite well made machines, but at the time they were more lower end.

BTW- special editions didn't have anything like first edition written on them. My uncle in B'ham has got 1 and the control panel writing is not green and black but yellow and black and he's only got 2 options instead of 3 i think, from what i remember.

Dyson,

That particular machine would have been sold in Oz as an Ariston....I'll just about guarantee that the detergent drawer swings open in an arc and the programmer is push in/push out number....

HVL

theres also a HVL241 which is the same as the 211 but 1400.

Also the WF561 is pretty much the same but 1600 with a temp and spin dial.

sorry for bringing this back up,
george
