Hotpoint First Editions

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

BTW- special editions didn't have anything like first edition written on them. My uncle in B'ham has got 1 and the control panel writing is not green and black but yellow and black and he's only got 2 options instead of 3 i think, from what i remember.

Dyson,

That particular machine would have been sold in Oz as an Ariston....I'll just about guarantee that the detergent drawer swings open in an arc and the programmer is push in/push out number....

HVL

theres also a HVL241 which is the same as the 211 but 1400.

Also the WF561 is pretty much the same but 1600 with a temp and spin dial.

sorry for bringing this back up,
george

The last few of the small drum Hotpoints had a different make of motor instead of the usual GEC type motor. The frequent brush replacements needed on the GEC motor had been the main reliability issue on the Hotpoints so those final models before the WMA machines took over are my favourite Hotpoint front loaders.

I like the First Edition's, they might be basic but still became a brand in it's own right lol.

Here's a timeline of the WM-series models:

September 1994: WM11P launches in Polar White only with an 800RPM spin speed and Economy Wash option, late on, a 1000RPM model appeared although I'm unsure of the model number but had the First Edition script moved 2 the control panel from the drawer.

February 1997: WM51/52/53 models arrived with 800, 1000 and 1200RPM spin speeds respectively and all came in Polar White (P), White With Brown Trim (W) or Almond(A) all with Economy and Half Load options, White With Brown Trim models were axed in mid-1999 with Almond models continuing until the end of it's run in August 2000 when suceeded by both the WM54/55 models and the WMA-based First Editions. I'll cover washer dryers and tumble dryers in another post. :)

First Edit

Hotpoint have brought back to life the first Edition Washer Brand Name. Model numbers HFEL501P & HFEL521P a 1000 & 1200 spin 5kg Machine.

it's good 2 see the return of the name but would make it even better is 2 see almond return as well on these models and then I might get 1 lol :)
