Hi all, Moved into a house for college with some of my friends, and so far the house is pretty awesome. However, our impressions with the dishwasher have been less-than-stellar, and I figured I'd query the wisdom of the members here. this is a very basic dishwasher, so I'm not expecting the greatest performance, but this thing is struggling to remove light soil from items on the top rack at times, and redeposits in glasses are the worst I have ever experienced. there is about a 1/4 inch of water left around the sump intake grate after every cycle. is there anything I can do to make this thing better short of convincing my landlord to let me replace it with a powerclean!?

Wish you could provide a picture, but it sounds like a nineteen eighties vintage hot point, which is like the dishwasher that came with my house, which was absolutely horrible
Something might be off, that model has a fine filter which basically eliminates particles re-settling.
You say there is water getting life behind, how much? Do you have a picture?
Regarding clean-ability the wash arm is very basic, it only has a few largely spaced holes, spins very fast, and the flow rate is reduced due to compensate for the low water charge these later models had.

I can get a picture when I get back monday, but it's about 3/4 to 1 cm in the bottom of the dishwasher, at the point of the intake screen/grille whatever its called. I don't know if this is normal but I'm inclined to believe it isn't. Several times after the entire cycle is complete this water has been off-colored by items we had in the dishwasher, which is part of the reason I made this thread in the first place.
