Hotpoint is due tobe replaced with the Hoover Vision 9KG 1600

I just went to currys to day and the machine is retailed at 450 pounds. however the sales man said I can pay monthly from 11 to 12 pounds and the machine looks fantastic it maybe white and not match the kitchen well but it sure wipes the aqualtis off for performance.

Oh and it does have powerjet system and time management
(so think before you get the Zanussi inspire) and it also has the hydro drum, paddles and domes to give excellent washing results and it's super silent. Also my first washer was the Hoover Electron washer/dryer 1100 so I'm gonna put my application in for it.

But I am still wary of Hoover's stamina and back up.
I know it is a diferent machine but I have a Hoover "pets and Stairs" vacuum. Had it for 13 months and the foot pedal has gone 3 times. It's all plastic! The performance is very good but the fact that I have had to have an engineer out 3 times in a year makes me think twice about having anything to do with Hoover again for their quality is very poor. Would love to hear from anyone that is very happy with their recently aquired hoover appliances.

The 9Kg Vision models do not have the Power Jet however the 8Kg models still use it.

Hoover Power Jet

If the machine you looked at had a Power Jet it must have been the 8Kg model, they look very similar.
Bear in mind that the new 9Kg machines use a totally new tub and drum assembly I would say wait a while to ensure that any possible gremlins in the 9Kg design have been worked out. The 8Kg models have proved to be solid and reliable machines, nice looking too. The Vision HD8 Iconic model has the Three Phase (Inverter) Induction Motor and is extremely quiet both washing and spinning.

Hoover Vision

I have just been looking on Hoovers web site and it appears that the Vision HD8 Iconic is no longer available, so if you want the brushless motor you will have to go for the 9Kg model. I also noticed that the 8Kg models are fited with the new drum.

I have seen three separate machines (Vision HD9 VHD9163ZD) in our local Electrical stores, none of the machines I looked at had a Power Jet, there is no mention of the Power Jet on the Hoover web site for either the 8Kg or 9Kg models I suspect it may be discontinued. The drum is nice and roomy at 65 litres so there should be plenty of room for the load to move and wash properly without the Power Jet.

In my shop we have both 8 & 9kg models. As i was eyeing them up with the intent to buy. Unfortunately neither 8 or 9kg models have the powerjet anymore. Though as you've pointed out, the drum is roomy enough to compensate for that.

We still have 1200rpm models from the previous range which obviously have the powerjet, they crossed my mind but the 1200rpm was the problem, while i have 2 machines that spin perfectly fine at 1000rpm its always nice to have a choice!

Just looked at the instructions- theres a few things that would really p me off about these machines....

1. If you want a programme above 60deg you have to prewash.

2. The "short" 40 and 60 cotton programmes are still 1hr 31min

3. The "short" 40 synthetic is 1hr 10 min

4 The delicate programme is still over a hour and only has a max spin of 400rpm.

I think im gonna stick with my Insight......

In all honesty

from the experience we have had in 7 years from 4 Hoover/Candy appliances (only 1 of which remains by the skin of its teeth) it will take more than an induction motor to convince me otherwise. Candy Activa lasted 4 months, motor failure pump failure. Hoover Quattro 1300 18 months Motor failure. Hoover Purepower upright vac. Foot pedal broke, lost suction after 1 year, motor failure. Lasted 2 years. Hoover 6kg Ultracare dryer. From day 1 drum lifters starting falling off. Made intermittant loud rumble noises. From 2 years old, take 10 minutes to heat up and to stop squeaking whilst tumbleing. Not to mention our 1988 Candy Domino 1000 which had 2 sets of bearings fitted after it left the factory in 4 years of use. 5 unreliable appliances. Fancy taking that chance? For me to trust Candy it will take at least 10 years to prove it. I expect to be seeing 10 year old Visions without SINGLE repairs full stop! Like Hoover and Hotpoint were before such takeovers. Go for an Electrolux if money is tight. Failing that and you can splash out a Miele or Asko is the way to go. Plus Miele and Asko have so much flexibility in programmes why not?

The wash times are about the same as our current piece of indesit co trash however wash times don't bother me really, vut they did with my old Whirlpool AWM328 Asoirations 1200 when cottons cycle was 3 hrs (with quickwash selected)

man I had to pull the rubber from the top of the drum to get suds/ clear water to flow down the door and turn the dial to the second fase of final spin to make it shoot from stand still to 1200 with water gushing down the door, it was funny though .

but off cause being an old whirlpool with the filter door on the right it spun anti clockwise. and span alot better at 1200

That was the model I had at work. 95deg Cotton was nowhere near 3 hours with quickwash selected. 2 hours maybe 2 hours 15 maximum without quickwash. No pork pies please LOL!

and

it was impossible to turn the dial to a certain part of the spin IIRC cos once Start was pressed it to enable the selector wheel to move round it was not stoppable until it got back to the start/end position. I know I tried these things in attempt to get 3 rinses only when the machine suds locked. You had to select delicates and set temp to minimum to get anything resembleing a rinse only cycle in a reasonable time instead of doing 3 individual rinse and spin cycles.

The hoover vision looks like a great machine, but I think given their reputation, I would avoiding them.

Electrolux or Zanussi seems like a much safer bet.

Obviously if affordable - Miele, anything else really is a compromise !
