i have one of these, planning to put pictures up here soon. might be selling too if anyone is interested ?

Please share with us some pictures of this wonderful and hard to find machine! I'd love to buy it off you but the problem for me is that I live in Ireland and I'm up against people who would have more money for their hobby.

James.

A Hotpoint Liberator front load washer? Nah, no interest on here mate. Ten a penny. And if it's got a purple door you won't give it away (can't see inside, see). Just so happens I'll be in Manchester this week and could take it off your hands as a favour ;-)

i'll put a photo or two up in a couple of days, might put it on ebay though or likewise email if you are interested

Tear jerking!!!

Hi all,

I want to make a request. Can I arrange for any of you to save this for me so I can find a way to get it over here? I'm never going to get these in Ireland and I literally cried over not being able to get a purple ever.

Sad James...

James

I know it must be frustrating for you, but you are new to the collecting bit, the purples are a delight, and look, I`ve never see one and then two come up in two days....

So who knows, there is stuff out there, you have to be patient and it will find you, usually when you least expect it and are not looking for it...

keep looking with enthuisiasm and you will find stuff!!! in the meantime enjoy whats about, keep asking questions and be open to the learning!!!

Cheers, Mike

Thanks Mike

Yeah Im probably getting wound up over nothing. There are around 70000000 people in the UK and Ireland and there are probably many rarities hiding about. The downside though is that I can't buy machines until Im 18.

Hopefully Paul and Robs videos will be up soon. Whats the difference between their machine and this one? Theirs is model 1828 from 1976 and this one is 1851 from 1975.

May I add your email?

James.

Hiya James.

Mirroring what Mike has said - you will find stuff eventually and stuff is out there.
Also the older bits of kit are about on your shores - just look at all the stuff that Mark gives a home too.

One day you will come across something that will make all the frustrations worth while.

Gary has had his A3190, A3794 and recently his second keymatic all thanks to his long running adverts.
Myself and Rob have had the Hotpoint 1826 and Hotpoint 18371 simply through my posts on this very site!

Your patience will pay off. Its just a matter of waiting.

Paul

Hi justin.

Lovely machine you have there and cheers for posting the pics of it. Good to see detailed shots of the 1851/03, as have only ever seen small piccies of one before.

Restored?

Hello Justin

Great machine to see on the site.
Can I just ask about what appears to be some touch up painting on the front panel, around the soap draw area and the bottom of the door surround.

It looks like these areas have rusted (not uncommon on these machines) and they have just been painted over or have they been treated with de-rust and then painted, is the case?
If it is, it is not a problem only i would like to know before i consider making an offer for the machine

Thanks
Gary

Enamel inner drum

Wow, this one seems to have the vitreous enamelled inner drum, very rare indeed. I believe they changed to stainless steel in 1976.

Tom

Hi Gary, yes there was slight rusting around the powder tray as is to be expected i guess which has been treated, primed and painted

Please note : to all fellow collectors interested in purchasing her i have put her up on the website manchester gumtree for sale under collectables, it should go live soon. For a further description on the libby and more info and pricewise have a nosey there

Pulley

Hello Mike
I wondered about that, as all the early machines had cast metal pulleys like my 18370, i noticed the pump aswell not that it is a problem, but it always best to know the history of a machine if your laying out serious dosh for it
