Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

1140 for 9 minutes no less! I also like the water saving feature, saving the rinse water for the prewash/soak cycle of the next load. Much better, IMO than saving the filthy wash water for the next load. There's some doubt if this machine was ever sold, too bad reaaly as it would have been a much better washer than the Beam version Hotpoint eventually released but on the other hand, we'd have never had the later Hotpoint with the solid tubs & fountain filters...and what would have Harriet Nelson done without her Hotpoint long neck agitator?

Wow--learn something new every day! I thought the '49 two-motor Hotpoint was the first automatic washer produced under the Hotpoint name. So the original Hotpoint was a GE Clone like the "plastic" machines and non-Filter-Flo GE clones! Nothing seems new...now I'm beginning to believe it!

hotpoint/ge

GE and HotPoint have been basically the same for years........since the '30's, I believe...think someone mentioned that in another and/or earlier post.....so I guess that a few things stay the same..

We are not sure if this GE designed Hotpoint washer ever made it to market, because Hopoint designed and produced their own washer starting in 1949 all the way thru 1974. At first they used Beam parts and then by 1958 they had their own design. Hopoint then in 1975 started being built by GE.
