I just gots me the General Electric version of this in white and me LOVES IT!

Convincing someone to give it (or guide me through) a bearings job is going the be the hard part!

What do these look like underneath? Is there some kind of transmission or something? Wondering what kind of bearings would there be, spin? agitation? I'm so clueless when it comes to these little Sanyos.

mechanism

grabbed a smashed up one of these at the dump in 1993 for
technical examination and parts-as i recall here are some of
the details:
-split capacitor induction motor of around 1/8 HP
-planetary gear transmission(just a reduction gear)for impeller
-belt drive
-common 6205 tub bearing(IIRC)
-shaded pole electric pump
-solenoid activated(or released)brake
-motor reverses for spin,a simple spring clutch built into
the transmission engages the tub.
The machine i examined was made in 1972 and had a black,
4-rib wash impeller

Just because it doesn't have a big black or white or yellow (etc.) long hard thing protruding out of it doesn't make it worthless.

Hotpoint Portable

I have the same machine in white and mine is the lower end model. This is a deluxe model with the water temp switch (H+C fill) which technically makes it a convertible although I don't think they called it that until the next (blue impeller) series. This machine like many does no spin until the very end of the cycle with 2 drain and fill rinses. The 5-spoke impeller at the bottom is not as good of a mover of larger item as the blue 4-spoke one of newer machines is. This little guy also has a good lid and interestingly enough porcelain inner and outer tubs so it's a tad hefty for a small portable. An added bonus is it's in Harvest Gold! I'd buy it for $50 even, someone go get it.

Oh and it's actually a Hitachi machine not a Sanyo. There seems to be a lot of confusion on this myself included but this one and the one that came later is a Hitachi. They do LOOK very Sanyo-esq though but I think the Sanyo's usually had an agitator in them from this era.
