Hotpoint problems

Hi guys!
I would just like to ask about some problems:

1.Why does it sometimes bang loudly when on final spin.
2.Why does it always spin unbalanced.It is supposed to have a balance sensor.

Please help

We used to have a first edition wm52 from 1999

It would bang and rattle like mad on final spin and would often spin unbalanced.
I preferred it when it span unblalanced though. When the sensor did stop the spin it would just click onto the next rinse and not attempt to spin again, giving poor rinsing results.
If I'm honest I was pleased to see the back of that machine. From my experience of these machines I think the wm range was the start of Hotpoint going downhill, even though they hadnt been taken over by merloni yet

Our does that.It is jammed under a worktop and still manages to jump forward.It is quite reliable.The rinsing is ok.It only attempts once aswell.Intelligent care my foot!Another daft thing,it doesnt have a filter outside.I a coin gets in the pump,you have to strip the machine!

Hoover, that banging noise is most likely the brake going out. I wouldn't worry too much about that on this machine. They will bang for years till it goes to a free-wheel type wash and spin. They are notorious for unbalanced spins. I've seen a few that I never quite figued out why they spun out unbalanced. I have noticed that alot of that problem can be fixed by using the proper water level in accordance with your amout of clothes to be washed. I know this may sound pretty self explanatory but the water level on that machine seems to be way more critical than other makes and models. The unbalnced spin will sooner or later make the rubber boot slip and began leaking. I'm sure you know where teh boot is down around tub and trannie. What a bitch some of those can be. When replacing or tightening boot always put a light up under machine and turn oyt shop lights to look for pin hole sized rust holes in tub before putting it back togetehr. JB weld is best in fixing those holes. This is the machine that I 1st worked on in my carreer. I can do that one blind folded.

I dont think you worked on these machines 1st in your career

THis thread is in relation to a UK Hotpoint front loader which do not have brakes, adjustable water levels nor trannies.
