My WM43 had this! They promote effect extraction with minimal wear and tear, so the machine would do a burst at 400, stop redistribute, do a long steady 400 spin, stop redistribute, then 800, then the same again up to a 1000 then it would continue up to 1400 but not for very long at all. I have videos of this on my youtube
Our Hotpoint Wm53 is later than yours and it doesnt have profile spin.It just does a burst at 400,then revs back up to 400,slowly revs up to 900 the goes to 1200 for 30 secs. Why didnt hotpoint put profile spin on the wm53?
I beleive profile spins were only put on the higher end machines. From reading the manual for my old wm52 it seems yours should have "pulse spin" due to the faster spin. Mine was only 1000rpm. It did a burst at 400 then slowed down to distribute then ramped up to 1000rpm. It did seem to take a long time getting up to full speed from what I remember.
