Hi. I have these 2 amazing HOTPOINT wall ovens recovered from an estate sale.
Both of them have the cords cut off in the back with the wires sticking out.
I cant seem to find ANY information on the original cord.
Does anyone happen to have any experience with these? I want to make sure i put the proper cord on, have it safe, and be closest to its original state if at all possible.
I appreciate any help!

Nice "Woodland Brown" oven

Built-in ovens and cooktops are almost always wired in direct. As you don't move them out for cleaning, there is no reason for them to be able to be unplugged.

Most I've seen come with a few feet of conductors in flexible metal conduit. You'll need the appropriate box connector for attaching the conduit to the junction box, along with the splice connectors for the wires. An electric supply store will have everything you need for this.

If you are planning on using a cord, a dryer cord is usually sufficient for a single wall oven, especially one like a HP without a preheat setting. It probably draws at most 3750 watts while many dryers pull about 5600.

Before you install the ovens, you may want to check the clocks to make sure they operate.  You can probably rig up some 120V wiring to them directly.  Easier to get at them to install a new motor/rotor now if necessary.

Customline sez...........

Mid American timers does a good job at fixing timers. Just go on their site for info., Mid American timers .com. I had to replace both thermostats in my oven. I used Robert Shaw replacements and they work great. I used ten gauge wire to wire in my wall oven and I also grounded it as these older units were not grounded.
