Hotpoint Washer Model 9506

I started a post asking what year the Hotpoint 9506 was made and I believe someone on here said it was 1992. However the 9534 was made in 1989 so a friend of mine told me but I thought the 9506 was an older machine?

Still not found a 9506 but not given up. Got loads of spare parts for it including motor, solenoids etc so be great to find one. Trouble is they are all located so far away like Manchester or Bristol lol.

Many parts are common to all the 9500 and 95000 machines, only timers and fascia panels tend to differ.There are different spin speed motors but they can be mixed and matched safely. That is one advantage of the Hotpoints. In contrast, Indesit always seemed to have loads of slightly different designs so you never have the correct donor machine for the one you are trying to repair.

The 9506 is definitely from 1992. Here is how you can tell what year each range is from.

95X0 = 1986 to 1988
95X4 = 1988 to 1989
95X5 = 1989 to 1990
95X6/7 = 1990 to 1992
95X8 = 1992 to 1993
95X9 = 1993 to 1994

Hope this helps and anybody correct me if I am wrong.

the 9506 isn't a Hotpoint that 1st springs 2 mind, but it's essentially a forerunner 2 the First Edition which appeared in September 1994 with the 1st linage of WM's

I like 2 call the 95-series machines of each range as the x-series of models, not 2 be confused with BMW's range of cars lol

The 0-series started it all in April 1986 and saw the 1st MicroProfile model in the range, 1st with 1300RPM spin then an updated model with 1400RPM spin

Next the 4-series models arrived in April 1988 and had the Bow Tie motif above the dial, the MicroProfile was updated in 1989 with the model number ending in 5, from then on the last digit in the number of that model would be 1 ahead with the rest of the range, also the final range 2 have the proud door and classic style of Hotpoint drum

A change in design occured with the 5-series lineup in April 1990, the 1st range 2 use the recessed door glass and Aquarius style of Hotpoint drum, this was the last range 2 have a MicroTronic model and the full size dryers was the last 2 have the back filter.

The Aquarius name 1st appeared with the 6-series models in the Summer of 1991, the Aquarius name was used on higher end models, and the MicroTronic was replaced with a MicroProfile model with a LCD calculator display and the dryers featured the Aquarius Drying System but was short lived as they adopted the Creda design soon after

Things get a bit confusing 4 the rest of its run, the 7-series arrived next and the Aquarius name appeared on all models, then the 8-series followed up in 1993, and finally the Aquarius Ultra 9-series models went on sale and I believe they were sold in parallel with Aquarius versions, as they previewed the look 4 the WM's that replaced them in September 1994.

Take a close look at that 9506 on ebay & see if you can spot something just not quite right about it.

I thought

The 9506 was a matte plastic machine with just one button (economy wash).

The one for sale looks like either one of the cross over 95-WM series or an actual WM series
machine.

The thing to note with the plethora of model names used by Hotpoint is that they don't have much to do with the design or technology in the appliances. A First Edition may well be virtually identical to an Aquarius internally and a WM12 will share most of the same parts with a 9538. If collecting Hotpoints I would try to get a wringer washer, a twin tub, an automatic top loader, a Liberator with wrap round cabinet, a brown and white 95000 or 9500 series, a late model WM series such as the WM64 and a WMA machine. The exact model numbers would not matter too much so I would just try to find machines in good condition.

If its something you want Ben, then you should go and get it if you can.

I've done long journeys to get pieces of kit, so trek and a half's aren't unknown.

I live in cornwall, my first machine was a Hoover A3308 I drove to Burnley for that, I drove out to Colchester in Essex for a Keymatic and Edgeware in London for another Keymatic, so as Paul says be prepared to travel, I know sods law sometimes applies and one turns up the next week down the road, but these old machines are getting rarer so you have jump sometimes.

if the 95x0 was 86 and the x4's were 88 then when was the 95x1, x2 and x3 set in relation to that?

Didn't get it :-( Missed out by 80P how annoying.

There is a Zanussi FL850 on Ebay they any good and use high water levels? Can't find any videos on Youtube of that model though.

Back to the 95 series did they or did they not use high water levels?

And why did they stop making them do the instant distributions?

I've said it before and I'll say it again.

If you want deep rinse levels, avoid anything made by the Electrolux Group. That includes AEG, Zanussi, Tricity Bendix and John Lewis branded machines. Post-washcraft, they are not known for their deep water levels.
