Hotpoints WM51 to 53 Insti - Drain?

Hi Guys,
Do any of you know if the WM50 series did the old Distribution sequence like on older Hotpoints or the more progressive build up?
I seem to remember my Aunties old WM51 doing the older sequence that does the instant distribution?

I think that range, and the later WM's had a traditional sequence from the days of old!

WM52

I own a WM52 (a donor machine) and it gradually builds up to distribution speed. I think the instant distribution was phased out when the first WM** Series machines came out. Those machines being fitted with a one piece timer/module with enhanced speed control.

It was a machine originally destined to be in my collection but I just wasn't happy with it is to me it is a bit young for me, I'm the kind of person who likes anything from 1955 to 1995 circa.

I could sell it, use it as a trading card for something older or strip it for parts as they will fit even the Liberators.

Awwww, what a shame they dont do the traditonal distri drain. Not many older Hotpoint around Nottingham and was kinda hoping it would of done the instidrain but never mind I'm new to this so still kinda getting used to the site! So the modules are different from the 95 codes and early Wm's?

First editions/ New ~ Aquarius ~ Wash ~ System ~ Plus

I only asked because the First editions I was told operated like the older Hotpoint whilst the later New ~ Aquarius ~ Wash ~ System ~ Plus models operate more smoothly.

I wonder why Hotpoint suddenly changed the way the machine works? Smoother tumbles, slower distributions, more progressive start of the spin. Shame they didn't keep there original vigarous feature until at least the end of the WM's!

The "Aquarius" name debuted in 1991 or so. My Mum's 9537 had the name along with the holes in the paddles etc. A few years later and the First Edition name debuted in 1994 with models WM11, WD22 and TL11. These machines were virtually 95** Series machines and I believe they operated in the traditional way. The Aquarius and Ultima machines from this range had new timers and modules so that the programming was revised. The smoother motor control was the target out of balance loads I believe. Then when the WM5*, WM6* and WM7* came out in 1997 the First Editions received the new timers and motor control. First Editions were basically the previous model with a few tweaks. Hotpoint carried this on until Indesit came.

Thanks for the info. Even though the distribution is slightly more boring than the older Hotties I would still have a WM51 any day! At least they still have the traditional drum and sounds from the famous AC GEC motors.

I'm thinking of getting a WM50 series soon. There are still some WM30's and 40's and even some 10's and 20's series around if you look hard enough.

Personally...

I don't collect anything younger than the WM1*-4* models. The WM5*-7* models I'm not too keen on. You can easily find WM's, 95's and even 18's on eBay.

Our old WM53 did a progressive distribution then a burst on all of the spins.
