Whew, lotsa questions!
Answers, in no particular order, including probably too much detail (and covering a couple from the "GE Kitchen" thread). . .
The move was started on the afternoon of Friday 1/21, and finished late in the evening on Sat 1/22 ... thanks to the help of a bunch of wonderful friends! I didn't own a house at all for a couple hours on Friday.
It's not quite a year old. It was a so-called investment deal for the fellow who had it built, along with a buddy. They've apparently done remodels a few times, this is the first new construction. If I have the time-line right, contruction finished in April 2004. They moved in, and it went up for sale in June or July.
There's room for a washer collection in the oversized double-car garage. But I don't think housing a collection in a non-climate controlled space is a good idea in Texas. Maybe I could get one machine squeezed into the master bath!
I didn't select any of colors or finishings. I understand he had a decorator involved. It has a masculine feel, quite appropriate.
The original owner/builder-fellow runs a landscaping business. There is a sort of French drain system around the house, thus, no gutters.
It's on a corner lot (officially, 1.14 acres), with a circle drive accessible from both sides. The exterior shot may not reveal the detail very well, but there are strips of brick inlaid on the driveway. The brick contraption at the front is to hide the water well (the tank is in the garage). The cut-out is for the address, which is now in place.
There are neighbors. The exterior shot shows a corner of white fence at the far left, which is immediately next door. Several others across and down the street that runs in front (including the real estate agent's home). A HUGE house is behind that belongs to the owner of the construction company that did the job.
Spiralactivator, you are correct about "DADoES."
Blade Runner is one of my favorite movies.
DaveNP, I don't have a copy of the plans, but I hope to get them from the contractor. The layout is a modified "L" or maybe a stretched "U." The entry, living room, dining, kitchen are at the middle. Master bedroom suite and bath is to the right. Utility and spare bedrooms are to the left, as is the detached garage. Part of it has 9' ceilings, part is 10', and the living room and master bedroom may be a bit more than that. Both the master bath and "guest" bath have whirlpool tubs. The master has a separate walk-in shower.
Why did I change abodes? Hmmmm. Well, I was seriously running out of room. And the new place is in a strategic location, which is all I can say about that right here.
Venus, I don't qualify to host a full-fledged convention, as I don't have any vintage items (unless you consider a 1991 KitchenAid washer and 1992 dishwasher to be vintage, LOL). But perhaps a very small local gathering could be done. ;-)
