How a grocery store should be!

You are absolutely right, Nick. The Lunds/Byerly's stores make for a beautiful shopping experience. The artisanal breads in the bakery, the top-notch produce, cheese, and meat departments, the flooring and carpets ...all wonderful and always super-clean. Fantastic selection of organic foods.

I love shopping at them when I'm in the twin cities.

Hey!

That looks like a superb store. I've never seen the likes of anything close to that here in Australia in my (limited) travels.* Shops in Norway, also, lack the warmth this shop appears to have.

*And that's living in a place where the local supermarket holds the State Award for Best Produce in 2013, and basically an annual customer service award
(Note that as a staff member at said shop, I am very proud to work there. Really, I owe it to the store owner and the shop manager. The latter of which was trained very well in his youth, and retains that strict attitude today. The shop owner is just "A Saint in Disguise," as I say. Great people skills, even when things have literally fallen apart).

I hold high hopes that I'll come across a well-stocked, friendly and warm supermarket, preferably independently owned/operated in my time. Again, that shop just raises the bar to an impeccable level. If the staff are only half as good as that shop looks, it would be a massive wakeup call for the likes of the "Big Box" where friendly service is never seen, let alone heard of.

I notice that the customers are generally less rude too. The experience seems noticeable starting in the parking lot even. None of those people squeezing themselves and a cart between you and what you are looking at without so much as an "excuse me".

I find the shopping experience at the new to the area Total Wine & More discount liquor stores to be similar. "Get outta my way, I have to deals to get" seems to be the mantra of all their customers. I should hijack the PA and say "Blue light special in the Merlot aisle" to get a little peaceful browsing in lol

Byerleys

I had the pleasure of shopping in their stores twice. Truly an awesome experience.
EVERYTHING done to perfection!

I liked Byerly's

MUCH better before Don Byerly sold to Lunds. However, better this current version of Byerly's is better than not at all.

(My sister, b-i-l, nieces, nephew-in-law, and great-nephews live in Richfield MN, and in Burnsville MN.)
