how do I clean or service this Fridaire white older cooktoplooks like Corning?

but I cant see it well enough? how to find the model number ? but mine has no digital just knobs. Hot surface light doesnt light up just occ flickers

I will stick a small toe into the water with a couple of suggestions that I will preface by telling you that you might not be able to get it looking really good.

If the marks are black to gray, that probably came in part from moving metal pans, especially aluminum or cast iron, over the surface. If you cannot find a product called Cook Top Cleaning Creme for Smooth Top Ranges at an appliance parts store, you can try Bar Keeper's Friend on a damp cloth with light pressure at first. Remember that it is glass so don't push down too hard in one spot or you might break it.

If you have lots of brown staining like burned on food that does not respond to the above treatment, you might try applying oven cleaner, being careful to keep it off the trim. Let it sit and keep it from drying by covering it with plastic wrap.

There are two types of glass as I remember: smooth and pebble-like. You do not want to scratch the smooth glass and you don't wat to do anything to the pebble-like surface to make it harder to clean. Always wipe the base and side of a pan to dry it before placing it on the surface because even water will leave marks. NEVER slide a pan on the glass; always pick it up before moving it.

I am telling you what helps remove marks from Corning Ware. I wish you success along with patience and luck.

When you have cleaned as much of the staining off as possible, rinse all of the cleaning products off and then try some bleach, half and half with water, again not letting it near the trim. You can put a paper towel down and dribble the bleach solution on it to hold it in place. Sometimes bleach will lighten stains that don't come out any other way.

There is a reason that they stopped making these in white, but the new black glass cooktops are bad at showing scratches.

I saw where I could go lightly use baking soda...on the web.....Cooktop, looked about new almost. Oh it looked fine when bought ..
Just mostly using my Visionware.
unfortunately must have been some debris on bottom of the Visionware...I rubbed lightly with a damp paper towels after sprinking on some baking soda.
I am familar with those cleaners as I had a glass cooktop, a newer one, that is . I do so miss it.
