the back of my new washing machine LG WM3170CW looks like picture number 1 and number 3. However you are suppose to try to make in inverted U a the stack pipe wth the included drain hose clamp. So how is the drain hose suppose to look like in the end? The drain hose is kind of long and close to the stack pipe. So, according to the washer I have, it is first going up,just outside the washer then I guess you have to go down, because it's a long hose, and then turn it up and attach it to the drain hose clamp to create an inverted U... then down into the stack pipe. In other words it goes up, then turns down, then up again to the inverted U then finally down into the stack? That's weird?

Most only need to go up and over once - so I'd imagine as long as it goes through the inverted U into the top of the drain pipe it should be perfectly fine.

All you need to do is take the drain hose from the machine and stick the end of the hose into the drainpipe about 4-5 inches. If your drain looks like either of the set-ups that are in pic #4 just cable tie the drain hose to either one of the water lines going to the washer ( used if you attach your machine to a wallbox as diagrammed for water and draining) or cable tie the drain hose about 6 inches down from the top of the standpipe.  The reason for doing this is to prevent the hose from popping out of the drain while it's in use and letting water go everywhere. If you happen to be draining the machine into a laundry tub there is probably a harness that the machine came with that forms the upside down "U" so you can hang it on the side of the laundry tub so the machine drains into the sink.
