I just read an article about the different ways men and women pour when using a coffeepot. Men tend to pour from the front and women pour from the side.
I pour from the side.
I'm left-handed. Everything is poured from the side--left to right. Whether it's iced tea from a pitcher or coffee from a percolator or a dripper's carafe. I don't ever recall my dad pouring coffee into a cup or mug other than from the side. May have something to do with space on the counter and not enough room in front of the counter to pour straight on from the front.
I guess I pour at a sort of angle between the 3 and 6 o'clock position then. To have a cup in front of you and pour straight ahead from the 6 o'clock position while keeping the spout and handle in their proper axis to pour correctly is an unnatural wrist position for anyone regardless of gender. I'll shut up now LOL
Whatever the hell spills the least. I hate wiping up slop, yet I'm compelled to. I think there's a prescription for that but the side effects include death (don't they all?) so I'll just keep a sponge by the sink.
