How many songs on your ipod, and what are the first five it plays on shuffle?

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

I have a 'retro' equivalent of an ipod-type device. I use a dumpster-salvaged 1996 Gateway 2000 computer with sound card connected to my Broadcast Electronics mixing board and PA amplifier with a 70-volt distribution system for driving speakers through the house.
The Gateway is running Linux with 2 hard drives and is networked through NFS to 5 other salvaged computers throughout the house offering a total of about 15 gigabytes of storage. The files are mono Ogg Vorbis files as the audio system is mono.
Operation is through a command line interface program called CMUS; total audio storage is currently about 36 hours of audio (not sure how many songs)

1st 10 songs on shuffle:
1. Pitty Pitty Patter: Susan Raye
2. The Race is On: George Jones
3. Shake Your Groove Thing: Peaches and Herb
4. Swingtown: Steve Miller Band
5. Venus: Bananarama
6. Funkytown: Pseudo Echo
7. Tumbling Dice: Linda Ronstadt
8. Breakdance: Irene Cara
9. Ebb Tide: The Living Strings orchestra
10. The In Crowd: Ramsey Lewis Trio

Not Really Into iPods

I've never been into the iPod thing. What I like to do is go to the library and check out CD's, then take the tracks I love the best and burn them onto blank CD's. The burned CD's then go into the console of my Saturn Ion for playing anytime I'm behind the wheel. My collections run the range from technopop and disco, to past and present country, early 1950's crooners, Dusty Springfield, Brenda Lee, television theme songs and so much more. I don't hate iPods; I just like my music on a shiny disc, ready to sing along when Las Vegas' increased gridlock takes over the pavement.

So to summarise, Louis, you have just one track by Simon and Garfunkel on your ipod??

wow looking at some of the songs you guys like i feel as though i dont have much taste. People tell me my music collection was pants and i fought back saying its not. But when you put Bananarama next to say The Ramones well you get my drift . . . Nick
