Oct 1966 DE306, Aaaaaarrrrgh, slight setback
I uncovered dryer enough to look at it from the rear. It was coated with lint everywhere. I cleaned it manually, removed the frayed belts and managed to activate the motor, but it would shut itself off. I thought I would spray some brake parts cleaner in the motor without thinking--it was hot. I sprayed too much and it exploded into a fireball. I had unplugged it and the motor was not running, but I suffered severe second degree burns on my right lower leg, foot, arm, and milder ones on my face. My careless stupidity sent me to the ER. Luckily it burned the aerosol VOC and melted wire insulation at the motor only. It blew the door off w/o any damage. I am an id10t. I am paying dearly in pain. I went back to it a couple days later, cleaned and separated the bare wires, plugged it in and tried it. No luck was awarded, big surprise. I am not dead yet. Ol'Maytag '66 is a bigger question mark?
Acetone, toluene and CO2 under pressure, hard lesson learned, bloody mess. No shrapnel, just fireball 500. I am a jackass, rather had my ass kicked--Post Traumatic Stress Dryer. If only I had been wearing my Nomax coveralls, anything more than T-shirt, shorts and shower slides...?!?
