How to bring back dingy whites?

Try using White King water softener with your detergent and bleach with hot water. That stuff helped bring my whites back very nicely. You'll notice a slight change after one wash and a continued improvement after a couple of launderings. I love the stuff.

Probably your biggest problem is hard water, and when you keep rinsing and rinsing in hard water you are just making your clothing dingy er and dirtier, I would cut down on the rinsing and if possible get a water softener.  

 

I would not stop using chlorine beach, just be sure to use it correctly and not use too much, LCB can significantly increase the life of a FL washer, we have yet to see a broken spider or moldy door boot on any FL washer where LCB has been used regularly.

Bought a box of Biz today, washing a load of whites right now- used a full scoop along with a full dose of Tide, Hot water and Whitest Whites cycle. Paused it for about 15 minutes to soak, will see what the results are.

You can not get them any whiter...then use some bluing ..it really does make a difference.

Did the Whirlpool Duet "Sport" washers have heaters in them? Since you said that you are washing that load on Hot (as opposed to Sanitize) I'm guessing your model lacks a heater. Even with hot water entering the machine, you might lose a lot of heat during the wash.

Some of them had heaters, but ours is a lower end model and doesn't, unfortunately. I used the Biz on a load of whites tonight, and it seems to have helped some. I will definitely keep using it and see what happens. A bit pricy, but if it works, well worth it.

Dingy Whites

When you have a dingy buildup in clothing it is usually very to remove it completely or quickly, In a GE service manual I have from the 60s it states that it takes about as many washings to remove a problem build-up in clothing as it took to get the build up in the clothing in the first place.

 

Some years ago I found a really  nice bath towel with a serious dulling build-up, it was a white towel with a light green pattern, well it took about a year of my regular washings for the towel to look really good again.
