How to get the door off a 1941 GE Fridge

Hey everybody after moving my refrigerator across the floor of my garage, the door to my 1941 GE Fridge (Model B-7) now is stuck--probably something with the latch but no matter what I do, I can't unlatch the fridge. I thought I'd remove the door by removing the hinge but it's one long piece of chrome--any ideas. The model is featured on YouTube video "GE Marches on 1941"

Did you plug it in and try it ?

We had a Westinghouse that locked the door when the power went out..

You may want to make sure it is completely level, as the latch may bind if it isn't.

some penetrating oil and a crowbar......

and it opened just like magic--the latch had some corrosion that prevented it from sliding back and forth--after a good dose of penetrating oil it worked like new.

The Toyota truck in the pic. and ram it off. heck, even the Subi might do it, if either runs.

Your Westinghouse Fridge had an electric door latch. That is why it would not open when it was not plugged in. This fridge does not have such a door latch. PATRICK COFFEY
