this thread can be interesting to share some info of why we picked the screen name we have............
My screen name is related to the most ingenious way I used parts from old apliances.
Here is a 3rd generation gocart I built from wood and I used a spin cycle clutch from a speed queen washer,and a pulley from a cloths dryer.
My first gocart eas biuilt in 1975 at the ahe of 14 this photo was thaken in 1976 at the age of 15

The place where I obtained the parts

This is behind the former Stucky`s funiture & appliance store in Monroe Indiana.
From 1972 to 1975 I tinkered with these old appliances learning,and using parts to make things with as part of my "Junkyard wars" style hobby.
They had many brands styles from the 40`s 50`s 60`even wringer washers.
What is amazing this and other places like this combined with school library books was my way of learning many things most of go to a collage to learn.

one of the clutches I used....

This Speed queen "FLUID DRIVE"clutch was the most interesting type I used on the gocarts plus it was cool running,and efficent.
The FLUID DRIVE is mazingly simular to a torque converter in a automatic transmission of a automobile.

Very cool thread (but should probably be in the "super&

That said....

Aside from washing machines, I am into cars... high performance cars (I LIKE power under my right foot). I have done my share of drag racing as well as road racing. When I'm driving my supercharged Mustang (or any car really) I am NOT afraid to put my foot down and let it rev all the way to red-line.

A past co-worker who was younger, kinda hip and fun called me RevvinKevin one day.... and the rest is history!

My favorite washers are Kenmore Model 70s specifically ones from the 1960s because I always thought their consoles were so cool with the chrome, and lit controls.

In addition, I was born in the year 1970, so I myself am a 70 Series.

Have a good one,
James

Where does Chachp come from?

I will preface this by saying I have never warn a dress in my life. I have too much body hair and no interest in shaving.

Very many years ago I was affectingly named Raphina Chachina Dragqueena DuBois. Why you ask? I have no flippin’ idea it’s just the kind of stupid names we called each other in the disco days! One day my best friend and I had a little too much wine to drink and as he looked over to me to tell me something he said, Oh Hell that’s too may syllables. I’m just going to call you Chach. That was 35 years ago and it stuck ever since.

Now spring forward about 30 years. I was doing a domain name search to set up a personal website and Chach was taken so I added a “p” to the end for my last name. And hence that’s where chachp comes from. I had done the same thing for my license plates so this seemed a logical choice.

Not nearly as exciting as some of the others but thanks for asking. It was really nice to take this stroll down memory lane.

Mattywashboy

in my circle of friends i have two alternate ego's, normally i'm just plain Matt. When i'm out on the gay scene i'm Matty, and when i'm doing everyones washing i'm WashBoy (like a superhero type thing), so combine the two and u have a screen name. :)

I just used my ID from work. When you work for the phone company there are two things you rattle off when asked: your company ID and your "NCS (net credited service) date" which is the date you were hired. These are etched in your brain for life whether you like it or not, along with volumes of telco jargon and acronyms.

I already have too many passwords to remember. I didn't want to start having too many screen handles to remember too, but if I had it to do over again I wouldn't use a company ID. At this point since I've been laid off, it no longer matters. If I had known I'd be visiting this site so much I probably would have chosen a different handle but now it's a non-issue.

I wish I had a simple story like Bill's above though! In that case I'd probably steal from a personalized license plate on a black pickup I see regularly in the parking lot behind the Castro theater in San Francisco: 4ST2TOP. Story of my life! But I'm not really complaining!

Everyone always thinks I drive the Chrysler product, but my daily driver is a VW Passat.

PT=where I live, Parsippany-Troy Hills Township, NJ (longest municipality name in the state, it's usually referred to as "Par-Troy")
Cruiser=what I am in a gaybar (har!)
51=my birth year (old)

I own a 1958 Buick Limited coupe and run a couple of forums dedicated to '58 Buicks.

This, or some variation, is my user name on most sites and on ebay.
