Trying to figure out what needed to be replaced in my dryer I found a video about replacing the regulator.

How would you diagnose a regulator failure?

How would you know if the old one is not working, the one in the video looked fine to me?

The video does not advise on any adjustments. How do you properly set the regulator of a gas dryer?

If a dryer is not producing a flame and everything else, coils igniter sensor, checks out, is it possible the regulator fell out of adjustment? Could this avoid replacing the valve, which is costly in terms of time and money?

there really is no adjustment....sort a preset position, and the spring will compensate as needed....

about the only time you open one up is to change from natural gas to propane....and that is only the cap that gets replaced...

what makes you think this is causing your issue?

could be your solenoids, even though power may come through, does not mean they are opening the valve....have had several faulty like this...

I would go with the easiest stuff first....

I was thinking you might avoid replacing the valve.

I was just wondering why they had the repair video. thanks for answering my newbie question.

When gas valves fail the plunger gets stuck or rusty. It won’t open with the coil. They also can not fully close and leak. Some are very noisy when they are open.

The gas valve is a somewhat rare failure item. I maybe change a couple every year max. I buy the coils by the case.
