Help Support :

The only reason I'm responding to this is the post was marked as offensive.

I think Arthur doesn't have his profile filled out is because he prefers internet privacy, which is perfectly fine with me. If I need to, because of webmaster duties, I can find out more about a poster via their digital fingerprints, but that is very rare thankfully. As for everyone else, there are no rules about filling out the profile except you must put your location in, but it can be very regional for privacy reasons.

Robert:

The reasons I was concerned were:

1) I don't want to offend anyone here, and Arthur seems offended.

2) I did not ask him for anything personal; if you'll look at Post #52, all I was asking about was what we should call him? I even said that I didn't care if it was a real name; just a name that I could use to address him politely. I concluded by saying "Think about it, anyway." If there is a "softer" way to make a request of someone, I have no Earthly idea what it might be.

So, this is a puzzling thing for me; I don't understand the reaction I got.

Grocery Stores

I lived in Atlanta for almost 8 years and never grew attached to Kroger stores (aka "K-Roger").  The stores that I did try out (northeast Atlanta) always seemed very crowded and disorganized.  Maybe if I had shopped there on a more-regular basis I would have better-understood the organization; but that wasn't the case.

Prior to moving to Atlanta I lived in Birmingham and shopped at Publix, and liked the experience.  Fortunately when I moved I was able to stay with Publix in Atlanta.  And once again, when I moved here to the Gulf Coast, we have Publix groceries and I am still a happy shopper.

Publix

I don't have much experience with Publix, but everyone always raves about them. My dad's parents spent 6 months of the year in Florida when I was a kid, and when they were home, my grandmother would always rave about two stores from down there: Burdine's and Publix. And she, for some reason, liked to call it "Pooblix".

Publix in the Atlanta area...

Is very over priced! They have the highest prices compared to any market in the area. I do shop there however when they have items on sale.

I must defend them when I want Deli. Their Deli has the best prices and I mostly buy Boars Head brand when I do buy Deli. Other than the Deli and the sales...I don't buy much at Publix.

Oh....all of the Publix stores are very, very clean!

Aw, you had to mention Publix's deli food!

I really miss their red potato salad. Very good stuff. What is sold as potato salad in my area is so full of sugar it could be used for an ice cream topping.

Sandy

The Red Potato Salad continues to be delish at Publix.
If there was a way that it could keep I would send you some.

Pulbix Pricing

Two work-arounds for Publix pricing are 1) their BOGO specials - when something I normally buy is featured I take advantage of the sale pricing; and, 2) their store brands - I buy their brand for a lot of my staples - milk, bread, cereal, sugar, etc.

I don't cook a lot and if I don't eat some pre-prepared meal (a frozen dinner, a salad, a ready-to-go entrée from the meat counter) I eat out (this applies to the dinner meal).  So, compared to the cost of eating out, the price of buying something pre-prepared at the store is totally acceptable to me.

Thanks for the thought! Everything - and I do mean everything - ready-made of that nature here is loaded with sugar. I bought some delicious-looking bacon, lettuce and tomato pasta salad a few months ago.

The only way I could have gotten anything sweeter would have been to go to Dairy Queen for a banana split.

It's a different matter in peoples' houses - I've had some wonderful dishes that way.

It looks like it could be "right," or very close. I would question the use of light mayonnaise, but it's easy enough to use the real thing.

Thank you VERY much! I'll report back on results.
