We knew they made them, if you blow up the picture, you can see what I’m talking about.

I remove this from a house in Chevy Chase Maryland on Thursday. The house hadn’t been lived in in over 20 years, the woman’s mother had lived in the house And she was trying to update things to either rent or sell the house.

We installed a two year old GE dishwasher at no charge to the owner to get this machine.

I recall that was an option on the Superba in the brochure we perused when choosing the KDI-17A.

A search found this discussion in March 2009 on a KDSS-17A.

Thanks Glenn I had forgotten that Pete found one of those back in 2009, I have seen six Katie SS 16s in my life but I’ve never seen the 17 in person, the other machine and I don’t know if anybody has ever seen is a KDS S-18, I know they made them. I have a price list that shows it cost the dealer about $80 more than the porcelain tub model

A few more pictures of this KDSS17, Jason is going to install it in his kitchen. I’ll get a picture once it’s installed.

The other neat thing about this dishwasher is it was only used a couple times it appears to be almost completely unused.

Just when I think I have all of the KDS’s I need..

So I have a KDS 14,17,18 (18 is new in box) and a 20. I thought I had all the KDWs I needed until I stumbled across this post. I had no idea they made one with a STAINLESS STEEL interior! I wonder if they made a portable option. Cousy you all imagine a KDS68 with a stainless steel insert?! 🤯

Kitchenaid, KDSS17

This one was made at the end of 1973, the energy saver button was not added until about 1975, that model would’ve been a KDSS17A.

One interesting thing maybe Steve in Florida would know the serial number is different on this machine. It’s a different format. We have a regular KDS17 with a porcelain tank. And it has a different model number sequence completely. This one has three digits stamped in at the end of the serial number 079 and I’m wondering if this was the 79th one made. The other KitchenAids don’t have that type of sequence in the serial number maybe this tank came out of the commercial division I’m not sure how that came about.

My dream dishwasher....

I saw this exact model while at an estate sale years ago. I adore the "Party Mode" buttons!  They had the coolest Frigidaire too - the model pictured except it was stainless steel.  They had a sign up if you were interested in buying the house - I signed up for the sole reason of offering them cash for the kitchen appliances - they never contacted me. I should have kept watch on the house to see if they 'upgraded' the kitchen before selling, or to buy the appliances from the new owners.
