I thought the box was empty with the exception of a small amount in one corner that the scoop couldn't get, so I turned it over to pour what was left into a bowl. After all, money's a little tight and if I can get an extra load out of it, great! But I was a little surprised when Tide started coming out from between the inner and outer layers of cardboard that make up the sides of the box. So I broke the inner cardboard free of the glue holding it in place and pulled it out. Turns out that three normal loads worth of detergent were hiding in there. What the heck? Be sure and check those 'empty' boxes before you toss them.

when are the powder detergent makers going to get rid of obselete, inconvenient boxes and go to plastic resealable bins like for dog and cat food?this should work well for detergents, too.and the container can be recycled more easily than the cardboard box.

I always do that if I have a detergent packed in a cardboard box. But these days we have only detergents packed in plastic bags.
(even there you have to lift the corners which are like small pockets where a tiny amount of detergent is hiding)

Anyway, I prefer cardboard boxes, such as those that you have.

Yes, a return to the drums of detergent my got when I was a child, please! I think she had one delivered once every six months or so. I remember hearing that Amway detergent 'was so powerful' it was shipped in glass containers - was that actually true?

plastic resealable bins

I've seen detergent packed in plastic, resealable containers. Problem is that the detergent is cheap--house brand type detergent.

I sometimes find cardboard boxes annoying, but I'm just glad that they still make powder detergent. For the moment, at least...

Plastic?

Paper you can burn, hardly any fumes, plastic is oil.We should go back to paper with so many things and deposit bottles.I go to the water everyday at least twice walking the dog,Hampton Roads the worlds largest natural harbor. So its said. You should see the trash we pick up.Plastic bottles, just incredible.Beer can holders, who knows how many waterfowl have drowned because of getting caught in them.Terrible,Bobby
