with all the Maytag controversey, I decided yesterday that I needed these as part of what will be forgotten.

Only because they were the harvest gold.

Steven, beautiful. Pete, these are late 1970s. And Glenn, these are TOL: 4 speed combo, 5 water combos, variable water level, extra rinse. Dryer is electronic control, hi/low/air, and I think the other two sets of two buttons are press care & signal. Steven, so glad you saved these. These were the epitome of the new-style Maytags when they first came out.

Beautiful - My Mom had the same exat set in white for many years. they started to make these in 1980 and she got her set in 1981. Best of Luck with a real cool set.

Harvest Gold

Hi Steve,
Congratulations on your new Harvest Gold set.
I hope you enjoy many years of happy washing and drying in them.

All the best.
Hugh

Enjoy-- fabulous set.

Will you be running a second electrical line for the electric dryer?

PeterH770:
I thought the rinse was 1.5 minutes in duration only with the commercial (coin-op)version.....

Mom's second (out of two to date) dryer is a MOL version of that machine bought in the early 90's. Her first was a Maytag DG in service from +/- 1966 to 1990.

[BTW her washer is a 1984 MOL DD 24" Kenmore. Never a repair.]

Answers to my new Maytag questions:

Glen - DADoES - yes TOL

Ben - swestoyz - GA810 & GDE810 ( I don't know much about the "G")

Lawrence/Maytagbear - DE

Steve - toggleswitch - No for the extra 220V line. I can easily switch the A608's around, and I will be either buying a laundromat or building my OWN!!!! YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA.

Robert - Unimatic1140 - The dryer has a broken belt. The washer might need a new tub bearing. General in-cabinet cleaning of course. Not real sure, but will play with them today.

Other than that, I received a call from the Maytag dealer here in Pensacola and this lady was wanted to trade out after 25 years. She bought the new Neptune MAH8700's. the sales clerk gave me her number to call her as she listens and watches for me. I went over and met this very nice lady and she told me she had purchased them in 1981(that would make them 24 years old) from the same place, they had always been right there with her and had never been moved. That was very obvious. I offered her $20 and she said sure, will you take care of them for me. "Please don't let them be destroyed" she begged.

Thanks for all the wonderful comments. I called Maytag with the serial numbers to find out when these were actually manufactured and those folks were clueless, as usual.

Will post more pics when I install and run them.

PS, owners manuals, washer tub brace for moving and original receipt!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Steve

Beautiful set - Maytag always had a very rich looking line of colors. I saw a similar TOL set in almond at a sale last week, mint condition as well - $75 for both. A similar vintage Fabric Matic set at St.Vincent's today went for $90.

Congrats on a great washer and dryer find!

When?

When did Maytag switch from the center dial to this design?
I have alot to learn! Beautiful machines!
