I don't get this at all.

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support AutomaticWasher.org:

Love that cat, Mark!

I agree with the video being disrespectful and I flagged it with that in mind. Needless torture of any lifeform is distasteful. I worry that this video will set an example for others to 'push the envelope'. At what point will something cross the line from distasteful to something that should be censored? How about spiking food with AlkaSeltzer and watching sea gulls suffer and die? Will putting a dead cat or puppy in a dryer and shooting video of it smashing around in the drum be ok as it's not illegal? Sometimes I think the Founding Fathers would be rolling in their graves over some of the things we use the concept of Freedom Of Speech to protect.

When I first got Remington about 5 years ago, and I was told the he was a she, a couple days later I discovered that she was indeed a he. My friend had named some strange name and once I found out he was a boy I re-named him Remington because I like typewriters. He is the biggest baby out of our six cats.

Here's Remington's thought on modern washers, LOL

THEY HAVE REMOVED THE VIDEO THANK GOODNESS!!! IT MADE ME SICK ALL DAY!
I love art and pushing the envelope but not hurting people, animals, etc in the name of art sorry. Darren k

It's not true that no other creature except man kills for pleasure. There are plenty of documented instances of other animals going on killing sprees. Most recently I saw a documentary on desert lions that had them chasing down and killing domesticated donkeys who didn't know how to run away and after the first few, the lions killed just for the sport of it.

House cats will kill birds and mice by playing with them... and not eat them...

Chimpanzees are quite violent and will wage wars on neighboring troops. They will kill each other for territorial reasons, not because of food or self defense.

However, I'm glad the video was pulled. I didn't watch it and had no intention of going there. I raise goldfish and koi and they are pets that I care about. It's different from a pet you can hold and pet, of course, but they are sentient beings nonetheless.

Twins

Mark, do you know how much Nigel weighs? I think Remington weighs somewhere around 15-20 lbs. He seemed to gain a lot of weight after I had him snipped.

Nigel's weight

Nigel weighed 12 pounds 8 oz. at his check up last November. He was born March of 05. He rides to work with me everyday and we often take a siesta. That's my mom in the picture on the wall.

Your cat

Hi Mark. Your baby IS SO cute!!! Do you know what type of cat he is? Back in the 70's my aunt's kid, my cousins found a baby bobcat and named him Dinky. He weighed I think 25-30 pounds and lived to 23 and had to be put to sleep due to some kind of cancer. Well Nigel obviously LOVES his daddy!!!!! Take care, both of you!!!!.....Bill in Az.....

What about Remington

The Humane Societ refers to Nigel as Breed: Domestic SH/Mix, Color: BRN Tiger
Very exotic. Some day I will look up the initials (smile).

I have a little old lady client who says because of the 'M' on his forehead (Remington has this also) he is a manger cat. I suspect that is a 'faith based' bit of warmth and charm.

I have no idea what breed Remington is. His stomach is spotted. A friend gave him to me that couldn't tell the difference between a female and male cat. Remington likes to sleep on my side when I'm laying on the couch watching tv. He has to knead on me for about ten minutes before he'll lay down rest.

Mark,

Nope. Sorry. I disagree. I think you are talking apples and oranges here. I think your argument lumps gays, jews, book readers, pierced people, hair dyers, movie producers, and artists in the same category as "people who torture animals for fun and profit". To me, there is a difference. Being a member of one of the groups you mention, I think its offensive to insinuate that there is any comparison.

You can't justify bad behavior by saying "I'm a minority and I'll do what I want."

Mister Eric, a Censor I presume...

...and you are in favor of censorship? You know where to draw the line? Would you censor, or give a pass, to the "fishing show" where fish are played with at the end of a line and hook?

Yup, that's bad...in my view...

I think censorship of lawful activity is dangerous. If you don't like Maplethorpe, don't look at his stuff. Here's the thing, Eric, I suspect that in terms of notions of what behaviors are offensive, etc., you and I don't have much disagreement. I think the disagreement comes from the proposition of sanctioning intervention and censorship - you know, the hobnail boot on the neck.

I happen to think that writings, movies and art that provoke can serve an important purpose and I am sure not going to be the one who says what can pass and what cannot. While getting rough with a handful of goldfish may seem reprehensible to you, another person, like Mr. Ma, might see a different meaning. And another person might find it offensive to place butterflys on a pin. I find Ted Nugent's glorification of a kill to be over the top reprehensible - but I would never think his filming and commenting on the activity should be censored.

BTW, does anyone know how the goldfish faired? I saw no blood or signs of damage. Was it actually worse then the tumbling salmon take?

My friend that gave me Remington said it was female, which all of our other cats are. Then the next day he had his back to me and was stretching out on the bed, that's when I discovered that he was actually a boy, and changed his name to Remington, and had him clipped the next week. He's a beautiful cat, my friend was going to take him back to where he got him, but I wouldn't allow it because the original owner had been abusive to him.

I'm hoping the fish survived, but if the water was chlorinated, and not the proper temperature, I doubt they did, but I could be wrong.

does anyone remember this tv show?

She was sooo on luuds or something....

I didn't really watch the show, but do recall thinking, if it was on at a friends house or something, how strange she acted.

Now when I watch these clips, she really was too funny!

I used to watch Mary Hartman as faithfully as possible back in the day. Louise Lasser was excellent in the part and then all the other classic characters, Dabney Coleman, Dodie Goodman and what's her name the sister.
One of my favorites though was the whole Reverend Jimmy Joe episodes, the 10 year old tv evangelist and his conniving dad played by Coleman. Always begging for money to build Condo's for Christ. Anyways, little Jimmy Joe died in a bathtub electrocution "accident" when the toaster fell in or something.
