I Dream of Maytag

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

Hi Gang!! XXOO

I also doubt that they ruined a machine; but as a lover of suds-cake and an inveterate low water level, small load man, very familiar with tons o' suds, I still can't imagine how they did those giant rabbit ears shooting out in picture 5.

Did anyone else have a huge crush on Larry H. before he became J.R. Ewing, besides moi?

I just want to blink it right out of the picture and into my

Even if its a Maytag Robert? {ducks and runs}

Wonder what those 806's cost new in 1968? lots of good publicity for Maytag thats for sure!

Only so I could do one wash load in it, then pass it on to another collector Miss Jeff. It is just a Maytag after all. (ducking and running even faster).

I'm a little surprised that the Maytag logo is so clearly visible. No self-respecting producer these days would ever let that happen without getting $$$ for it. Someone who has it, take a look at the closing credits sometime and see if there is a promo-consideration mention for Maytag or a Maytag dealer.

No it does not, I watched it last night and I for sure would have noticed Maytag in the credits. Remember this screen shot was only on screen for two or so seconds, it would have been very hard in 1968 to read Maytag that quickly on the TV screen unless one knows exactly what they are looking at to begin with. Besides would Maytag approve of their machine being shown pouring suds out all over the place as well as throwing clothes out of the machine? Me thinks Maytag would want their logo covered for this episode of Jeannie.

I HOPE you're ducking and running, Robert!

OK, Mister ... "only a Maytag", indeed!

Wash just one load and pass it on? What's that? Love 'em and leave 'em? Well, I never!!

:-)

one wash load???

Nah, you'd want to wash another and another and another...
you can't fool me Mr. Robert!

"I'm a little surprised that the Maytag logo is so clearly visible."

It wouldn't have been in 1968; TV sets back then just weren't capable of that much resolution. If you have HDTV and the DVDs of "Star Trek's" TV episodes, you can see all kinds of nail heads in the plywood sets. In 1968, no one saw them.

Whoops, now how did that slip out? {bangs head on wall and says, inside voice, INSIDE VOICE} LOL

hillbillies

early episodes of the Beverly Hillbillies included a credit for the American Gas Association,(or some such), with the gas stove and dryer wonder if the Gas company was a sponsor? alr2903 P.S. That turquoise just Pops, id like to see it come back.

You folks are wearing me out. This is one of the best post that I have seen around in a while. So much fun and laughter I can hardly stand it.

Now, all ya'll calm down and accept the truth, MAYTAG, was the best.

I do have others, but none top it.

Love.

Steve

Isn't that interesting? It almost looks like they have a gas cooktop AND a Frigidaire Flair....

And Greg - don't you be hating on gas dryers with standing pilots. I used to love my folk's Speed Queen. Looking at it used to make me so sleepy.... ;-)

Incredible

They had 2 stoves in that kitchen. It looks like the one in the back was the same that Samantha had in here kitchen. With the uplifting glass door.
And it is probably true that they were all standing pilot. In real life, that would be a hot kitchen.

I remember these kind of scenes when I was young. You would be on the edge of your seat, or yanked from it. But they passed so quick. You only hoped the next episode showed "something". That kind of thing was the highlight of the show for me.
Seeing Grannys maytags in the background on The Beverly Hillbillies.
Hoping to see the Bradys Avacodo whirlpool W&D, or Greg using a tank vacuum cleaner while cleaning the car(electrolux?), or Alice using an upright.
Even Greenacres, as enjoyably decrepid as there house was... come on someone use that pink Maytag, or load the pink top loading dishwasher wrong again, or show us a close-up of the wire management system on the wall by the washer. Gimmeee somethin'
On "Don't eat the Daisies" I was drawn in when the grandmother from "the waltons" played a maid and didn't understand that (this was the 60s) The Maytag in the basement could operate Automatically and didn't require her to sit and wait for it. So here she is sitting next to the washer and we see a center dial Maytag(I don't remember the color). I watched the show for that kinda stuff.
On Knotslanding, The time when Diana was taking the 1979/80 KM canister vacuum over to Abbys to borrow it to her and Karen stopped her, and they got into an arguement.
Kate and Allie they had a almond Whirlpool belt drive washer and dryer down in the basement.
The time on Andy Griffith when Beas freezer was breaking down, causing the lights to dim and they had all this meat to deal with, eww-yuck. The freezer was literally vibrating and making noises on the back porch. Then there was the time Andy bought the town laundrymat which had Whirlpool machines that broke or leaked or something and he got in trouble as being an "official" he shouldn't have his time being taken up taking care of a laundramat.
"these are just a few of my favorite things.."
Does anyone remember the kitchen that Buffy and Jodie had in their New York "apartment". With that Hu-u-u-unky "Mr. French", don't get me started. whew.

Dallas's Southfork kitchen had 2 Almond 1980? Frigidaire top freezer refrigerators separated by a bank of cabinets. I don't know what other appliances they had in that kitchen.
No, I didn't think j.r. ewing was cute. .. but Bobby, and some of the younger stars, like Mitch, Lucy's boyfriend for a while.... yum yum.

Mac and Sally

Anyone remember the 36 wide coppertone beauty, with upper ovens on Mcmillan and wife, it was just fabulous. I always thought it was an Okeefe & Merrit.

Dan, looking at the dryer made you sleepy?

lol.

Are you sure it wasn't the Carbon Dioxide eminating from the pilot light that was making you "sleepy"?

I like your Flair link, very kewl.

Now, all ya'll calm down and accept the truth, MAYTAG, was the best.

Really now, well at least Sally hangs out with friends who know if you are going to do Turquoise, there really is only one brand to do...
