So I'm almost out of my Kirkland Costco pods and I although they work fine, they are too scented. So with me getting almost done with this last batch, I'm not going to be buying more of the Kirkland. Honestly, I was just going to start using Cascade or Finish again. However, while in walmart, I thought I would at least TRY their Great Value brand. When I got home, I had packed full dishwasher and decided to give one of the pods a try. I just have city water here, no water softener. The water is moderately hard.

When I looked at the pods, they looked IDENTICAL. I thought, "Oh, crap, this is exactly the same stuff just repackaged" So I put a pod in, started it after purging the cold from the lines. When my dishwasher is done, I open it and dry with a clip fan because I can't use rinse aid.. When I opened the dishwasher after it was done, the FIRST thing I noticed was there was NO SMELL... Just clean. I also noticed the stainless on the bottom looked more shiny. After the dishes were dry, I unloaded and checked all of them and they were spotless.

So at least for my water conditions, the GREAT Value pods are amazing and leave ZERO scent behind.

I'm currently using Finish Ultimate and Finish Jet Dry in my brand new LG. It works great. Honestly, I like the smell.

I have had the same good results with the Costco pods. There must have been a recent formula change in the last couple of years. Their performance used to be quite mediocre.

No No... I'm talking about the regular great value dishwasher pac's. Not the gel. Even though they're scented, they leave zero smell behind and clean well. My issue with the kirkland is that the scent doesn't completely break down. it's slightly still there at the end. I was also reading reviews on new Finish at costco and read quite a few complaints about horrid smell at the end....I haven't tried Finish yet (at least this kind) but have used it in the past and even though the smelled really strong, they left zero smell at the end.. so finish must have changed their formula (whatever type they sell at Costco) They really should leave scent out of dishwasher dertergents.

They clean really well, but I think these great value pac's are slightly better. I was shocked because they look identical. I thought it was the same thing, just repackaged. But it's not.

Do you mean Finish Ultimate?

No. Quantum. At least that's what they have at Costco and on their website. It used to be blue packaging but now it's black packaging. I was reading through the reviews and although a lot of them are good, a few of them caught my eye. One user said they used to Like Finish and tried Kirkland and didn't like how it was too scented so went back to finish because it never left a smell behind. I guess they must have changed their formula. So after reading that, I'm thinking "No, I'm not risking it" especially since I've found one that leaves NO smell behind. I agree, the finish was GREAT, especially the hard tablet powerball. But they've gone and made that more difficult to get and are pushing people toward ultimate and quantum.

I have been buying this product for several years. Despite being a lot more expensive, I started using it over the Kirkland brand because it previously did not leave a lingering scent after washing. However, the last box I purchased has a distinctly new and offensive perfume scent. It lingers long after washing and I can taste it on all of my dishes/food, especially anything silicone (spatulas, etc). It is truly horrible. I feel like I am doing myself bodily harm by eating off anything that has this lingering perfume/chemical smell and taste. Why do companies have to mess with a good a thing?

No, I do not recommend this product.
