There was actually a Foodarama for sale in South La., so I had my family pick it up for me, and I picked it up a couple of weeks ago. It's not in the best shape, but I've definitely seen worse.
Plugged it in this past weekend and the compressor sounds very loud, almost like there's a rattle. Definitely doesn't have the smooth purr of the GE combo. After a few hours, it did quiet down, but it got loud again. It took several hours to start cooling in the refrigerator side, and after about 8 hours, it made it down to 29, which is too cold. As for the freezer, the top two shelves never seemed to cool, but the bottom two did. Ice finally started to form on the right side coils, but the thermometers read 50 degrees. The temperature dial doesn't stop in the off position but keeps turning.
Had to unplug it as the plastic on the cord that goes to the relay was very brittle and some it came off exposing bare wires. So, not sure if the refrigerator and/or freezer would have continued to cool if it would remained plugged in.
